Photos from the Viking 5K are available at www.butnercreedmoornews.org The 2012 Oxford-based Northern Granville Athletic Association (NGAA) Dixie Darling All-Stars finished in 3rd place in the North Carolina State Tournament held in Eden, NC on July 13-18. Eight different teams in this age division began play in this double-elimination tournament on Saturday. The Dixie Darlings played hard in triple digit heat each day to remain in the tournament Saturday through Tuesday. They defeated Boger City (Lincolnton) on Saturday, lost to East Columbus on Sunday, came back to win Monday against Hope Mills, and lost late in the afternoon on Tuesday to West Stanley. The West Stanly team went into the final game on Wednesday against East Columbus. West Stanly won that game, suffered no losses the entire tournament, and took first place in the North Carolina State Tournament for their age group.
