Most of the classmates still live in the local area, one came from Indiana and one from Tennessee. ? Low Discount Water Rate ? For Senior Citizens The time for a low discount water rate for our seniors could not come at a better time. Congress’ prompt passing of the Economic Recovery Act Law for 2010 does not provide for a social s ecurity cost of living adjustment for 2010. With consumer prices down over the past year, monthly supplemental security income benefits will not automatically increase. This candidate is asking the community to support a low income discount water rate for our senior citizens. These senior citizens still give through mentoring, volunteering and sharing their joys of life. This is the least we can do to ensure they are not burdened down in their golden y ears. Now is the time to vote for someone who has the senior and caregivers interest at heart. I am asking that you vote for this candidate, someone who strongly supports a low discount water rate for our seniors. Transparency: An open and assessable government to all the citizens. How many times have you heard the Board openly discuss water rate decrease? (Never) Please visit the SGWASA website, the minutes for November and December 2008 mentioned another water increase. I say, “it is time to remove all the foxes from the henhouse.” James J. Jones Candidate for Mayor Paid for by Laverne Marks, Authorized by James J. Jones Michael P. The Future of Butner I believe we need to actively pursue ways to respond to citizens requests for: Recreation facilities and opportunities. Affordable rates for public services, such as water and sewage. Alternative transportation choices such as Transit Services (Bus Routes) for shopping, medical and employment needs, and Greenways for bicycle and pedestrian use for short distance trips. I believe that available resources should be evenly & equitably distributed throughout our Town & its communities. I believe we should think “outside the box” in seeking solutions to our Town’s needs, such as pursuing collaborative partnerships and seeking grant opportunities vs. relying solely on our Town’s limited resources. “It is one of my greatest pleasures in life to serve others, and I ask you to let me serve as your Councilman for the Town of Butner.” Michael P.
