TEA CLASS
Vance - Granville
Community College will
offer a course on “Afternoon
Tea,” the tradition that is
enjoying a renaissance as
fine hotels, inns and tea
rooms across the country
give guests an opportunity
to retreat from the hurried
pace of their lives.
The course, called
“Let's Have a Tea Party,”
will meet on VGCC’s Main
Campus in Vance County,
on Tuesdays and
Thursdays from 1 until 4
p.m., starting Sept. 24. The
final class and
“graduation” ceremony is
an actual afternoon tea
party planned and
facilitated by the students
at Magnolia Manor in
Warrenton on Oct. 8.
The cost of the course
is $58 for four class
sessions, plus $20 for the
final tea. Students will
receive a valuable resource
manual with recipes for tea
time, tips on flower
arranging, and a section on
etiquette.

LUPUS SUPPORT
GROUP
The following
information is about the
September support group
meetings that the Lupus
Foundation of America,
North Carolina Chapter
(LFANC) will be hosting
for those living with lupus,
their family and
caregivers.
There will be a meeting
on Thursday, September
26th from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
at N.C. Psychiatry
Association, located at
4917 Waters Edge Drive,
Suite 250 in Raleigh. The
group meets the fourth
Thursday of each month.
This group provides
participants with an
opportunity to receive
introductory information
about lupus, encourage the
expression of concerns,
provide an opportunity to
share experiences,
encourage and support
positive coping strategies,
and emphasize the
importance of medical
treatment. Meeting
programs vary from guest
speakers to DVD
presentations and open
group discussion.
There is no charge to
attend the meeting, and
drop-ins are welcome.

FISH FRY
The Methodist Men of
Creedmoor United
Methodist Church will
hold a Flounder Fish Fry
on Friday, September 27th
from 11 a.m. to 1:00 p. m.
and from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
The cost will be $7.00
per plate, eat in or take
out.
There will also be a
variety of homemade
baked items available for

PERFORM
Hal Linden, jazz
musician and legendary
star of Broadway and
television, will present a
program of classic tunes,
stories and nostalgia at the

m. This is the first concert
in Henderson Community
Concert Association’s 2013-
2014 series.
