Low Impact Aerobics

cookbooks will benefit the
youth and church

AWANA PROGRAM
BEGINS
Tally Ho First Baptist
Church will begin its
AWANA program on
Sunday, September 8th
from 4 p. m. until 6 p. m.
Children, ages 3 years old
(must be 3 by 8/31/13)
through 12th grade, are
invited for high-energy,
bible based activities. This
program goes through April
27th.
The kickoff this year
will be a Family Fun night.
The entire family is invited
to attend! For all club
nights, kids should dress
casually, wearing shorts or
jeans. Parents are welcome
to visit any time or are
welcome to stay.
Tally Ho's Youth Group
for high school students also
meets bi-weekly on
Sundays.

SOUTHERN STATES TO
CELEBRATE 90TH
ANNIVERSARY
On Saturday, September
21st, Southern States
Cooperative will celebrate
90 years of service to
agriculture in the
southeast.
Established in 1923 as
the Virginia Seed Service,
the organization started
with 150 original farmermembers
who met in
Richmond, Va. to develop
a reliable supply of clover
and grain seeds better
suited to the soils found in
Virginia. The service
changed its name to
Southern States
Cooperative ten years
later and grew into to a
multi-state agriculture
supply cooperative with
well over 200 thousand
members in 11 core states.
Southern States now
serves co-op members and
retail customers through
more than 200 company
owned retail stores,
managed cooperatives,
and agronomy facilities.
In addition, a private
dealer network of nearly
300 locations distributes
Southern States products
throughout the southeast.

JEWELRY CLASS
Vance-Granville Community
College will offer
a two-hour class in which
participants will learn
how to make unique,
elegant pieces of jewelry.
The “Jewelry: Wire-
Wrapped Rings &
Earrings” class is
scheduled for Saturday,
Sept. 21 from 10 a.m. until
noon on the college’s Main
Campus in Vance County.
During this class,
instructor Alison Beal of
Wake Forest will lead
participants through the
process of making a pair of
wire-wrapped earrings and
a wire-wrapped ring. As
this is a so-called “make it,
take it” class, participants
will leave with unique,
completed pieces of jewelry
to keep or to give as gifts,
as well as skills that they
can use later.
The total cost per
person, including all
materials and fees, is $25.
Registration in advance is
required. The deadline to
register is Tuesday, Sept.
