Panthers JV Rout Vikings 32-8
The Granville Central
Panthers JV ripped South
Granville JV 32-8 in
football.
Jerry Williams stole
the show early in the first
quarter for the Panthers.
Williams followed his
blocks by his offensive line
and wide receiver,
Anthony Hayes to a 13
yard touchdown run early
in the first quarter.
Williams then gave
he Panthers a 12-0 lead
n a 94 yard run with 6:46
emaining in the first half.
Malcolm West got in
he scoring column with a
4 yard touchdown at the
:42 mark in the second
uarter. Trevor Parker
dded the two point
onversion and Granville
entral led 20-0.
The Vikings finally got
n the board with 36.4
econds remaining in the
first half as Marquise
Rigsbee bounced up the
middle for the score. The
Panthers led 20-8 at the
half.
Elijah Cotton capped a

West scored again at
the 5:43 mark in the third
quarter to give Granville
Central a 32-8 lead.
Both teams ground it
out in the final quarter.
Neither team could move
the ball and traded
several punts.
The Panthers dumped
a cooler of water on Head

The defense stood tall

Panthers at the 28 yard
line.
Jeremy Parker wasted
no time finding Parrott
open in the end zone for a
touchdown. Evans again
completed the two point
play and Granville
Central led 16-0 with 8:15
to play in the first quarter.
Byron Taborn and M.
Freeman continued to get
into the backfield and
disrupt the Knights
running game and forced
another punt.
The Panther moved
the ball on a completion
from Parker to Omar
Rincon. Parker then
found Evans open for a
touchdown with 4:21 to go
in the first quarter. Evans
scored another two point
play and Granville
Central led 24-0.
Cearnel had another
defensive gem on the
Knights next series. The
ball popped loose and
Cearnel picked it out of the
air to give the Panthers
one more opportunity to
score in the first quarter.
The Panthers were on
the move when a block in
the back call stalled the
drive and the Knights took
over after a fake punt
attempt by the Panthers.
The Knights tried to pass
the ball to help the
running game, but Parrott
intercepted a pass and ran
it back 27 yards for a
touchdown. Anthony
Hardy made the two point
play to give Granville
Central a 32-0 at the end
of the first quarter.
Parker found Evans
open for a touchdown just
seconds into the second
quarter. Hardy added the
two point conversion and
Granville Central led 40-
0.
Parrott made his way
to the end zone again with
8:34 to go in the second
quarter. Hardy again
added the two points and
the Panthers had a
commanding 48-0 lead.
The Panthers next
drive ended with another
Parrott touchdown with
3:25 to go in the second
quarter. Granville
Central led 54-0 at the
half.
The Panthers would
have been happy to let the
clock run in the second
half; however the Knights
coach insisted that the
game be played in its
entirety. Granville
Central added one more
touchdown in the third
quarter to take a 60-0
lead.
The Panthers defense
continued to come up with
big plays. Shaquille
Freeman and Brad Speed
had drive killing stops for
Granville Central.
As time expired the
Panthers moved to 2-2 on
the season with the 60-0
victory.

Lady Panthers Fall To Webb
After convincing three
set conference victories at
Weldon and Southeast
Halifax, the Lady
Panthers stepped out of
conference to host the
Webb Lady Warriors on
September 16. As one of
the team Captains, Katya
Davis sat on the sidelines
with a season ending ACL
injury; Captain Danielle
Schmid led her team on
the court to battle 3-A
opponent Webb. The
match was hard fought,
but in the end Webb came
away with a 3-0 win over
the Lady Panthers.
Webb ran out to an
early 7-3 led before
Granville Central
answered. The Lady
Panthers began to make
shots at the net and forced
Webb miscues to cut the
Webb’s lead to 8-6.
Cheyenne Taylor served
four straight points
including two aces to push
the Lady Panthers ahead
10-8.
The Lady Panthers
used kills by Taylor
Lickliter, Aquayla Swann
and C. Taylor run the
score to 15-11. Schmid
served an ace to give the
Lady Panthers another
point. Hayley Mashburn
stopped the Granville
Central run with a kill.
Webb began to fight
their way into the set and
forced Granville Central to
make mistakes. With the
set tied a 19-19; Harper
Pruitt stepped in to serve
for Webb. Pruitt served
four straight points
including an ace to set the
Warriors up for the 25-21
set win.
Webb jumped out to a
huge lead at the beginning
of the second set. Trailing
13-4, the Lady Panthers
began to come around.
Brooke Fletcher served
four points including an
ace to get the Lady
Panthers back in the set.
Webb continued pound the
Lady Panthers in the
second set and eventually
won 25-15.
Granville Central let
Webb charge ahead on
Pruitt’s serves. Trailing 9-
3, Granville Central called
a timeout to stop Webb’s
momentum. Megan
Taylor served up the next
point for Granville Central
and the Lady Panthers
were off and running.
Lickliter and Allie
Malugen serves forced
Webb to take a time out as
the Lady Panthers closed
the score to 18-13.
Granville Central
continued to put pressure
on the Webb front line and
trailed 21-19. Webb
finally pulled away with
Caroline Joyner serves.
