No limits are placed on the pleasure of
exploration: So set off into the Leipzig
environs – the Leipzig New Lakeland area.
The former opencast mining landscape
has been meanwhile transformed into a
lake district where swimming enthusiasts
and water sports fans get their money’s
worth. Halle (Saale) should also not be
ignored: The nearby city of Handel’s birth
entices with art and culture, for instance
in the Francke Foundations or the
Moritzburg. An excursion from Leipzig into
the beautiful Burgenland region and the
wine-growing regions along the Saale
river are also worthwhile. Or visit Wittenberg
and experience the history of the
Reformation up close. No matter whether
it is the former residential city Torgau, the
cradle of the German Classic Weimar,
the Saxon state capital Dresden or the
porcelain city Meißen, you can quickly
arrive at your destination from Leipzig.
