Log Viewer<br />

Log Viewer provides users with access to all events that have occurred within the<br />

<strong>system</strong>. Events and user activities are archived in chronological order in the log<br />

database and can be viewed whenever required.<br />

Event Handler<br />

The data logging <strong>system</strong> is a background service performed by the Event Handler<br />

in <strong>DESIGO</strong> INSIGHT, which continuously logs reported events as follows:<br />

Events in Log Viewer:<br />

• Alarm events from the process level, such as<br />

plant alarms and high priority warnings. The<br />

alarm is logged when it occurs, and thereafter<br />

upon acknowledgment, reset and return to<br />

normal.<br />

• System events from <strong>DESIGO</strong> INSIGHT<br />

management stations and PX <strong>automation</strong><br />

stations. Examples include communication<br />

failures, selection procedures, start-up, shutdown,<br />

hard-disk monitoring, battery checks etc.<br />

• User events for reporting user activities<br />

on the management station. These<br />

include authorized and unauthorized user<br />

log-in procedures and the modification of<br />

values, parameters and setpoints etc.<br />

• Status events from the process level,<br />

such as plant ON/OFF etc.<br />

The user interface of Log Viewer has the same look and feel as the Alarm Viewer<br />

and is based on the same versatile sort and filter functions.<br />
