English summary: The Short-eared Owl is relatively recent að a breeding bird in lceland,<br />
though the first nest was reported að long ago að 1912. There is now an estimated<br />
population of 100-200 breeding pairs scattered throughout the lowland parts of the country.<br />
The Short-eared Owl is fully protected in lceland and any owls found dead must be handed<br />
over to the lcelandic Institute of Natural History. Habitat destruction is probably the most<br />
