Welcome to Woodstock Park from The Club Secretary
Good afternoon everyone. Welcome to
The DMA stadium, Woodstock Park.
Well it’s FA Cup day again and our visitors
are Spartan South Midland League
side, Hoddesdon Town from Herfordshire.
Welcome to them and todays
match officials.
We reached this round with a victory
over Seven Acre and Sidcup and, after
a replay, Metropolitan Police..
Hoddesdon had to start in the Extra
Preliminary Round when they beat Essex
Senior League side Sawbridgeworth
Town 4-0. In the Preliminary
round they played Ryman North side
Romford. They drew their home match
and won the away match on penalties.
In the first qualifying round it was a
home tie against Ashford Town (Middx).
This resulted in a 3-1 win for our visitors–
an excellent result against a team
who at this time are four points clear at
the top of the Combined Counties
League. So you can see that if any of
our supporters thought it was going to
be an easy ride today they need to
think again!
Following the excellent wins over Metropolitan
Police and Whyteleafe we
faced a team in 4 th place in our league,
Dorking Wanderers. Nick was faced
with a few injuries to established players
and probably would have been
pleased if the pitch inspection required
after constant rain had failed. As it was
the pitch dried out well and the game
was played. The young Brickies
(average age 22) battled well against a
good side who had only lost one match
all season. An excellently worked goal
after 8 minutes seemed to set us on
our way to a famous victory but it was
not to be. A goal for Dorking from their
first shot of the game and an own goal
(both in the first half) ended our run of 8
games without defeat. Hopefully a couple
of those injured players will be
available for selection today. Stefan
Wright received his fifth caution on
Tuesday and will now miss the Kent
Senior Cup match against Whitstable
Town on Tuesday week.
Some facts now from @facupfactfile:
This is our first FA Cup meeting with
Hoddsedaon. I think it is also our first
ever meeting with our visitors. It is 46
years since Hoddesdon Town won a
cup match at this stage. It is 14 years
since Hoddesdon Town reached this
stage. Hoddesdon Towns’s best performance
in the FA Cup was when they
reached Round 1 in the 1884/85 season.
Sittingbourne’s best performance was
in reaching Round 2 twice in the
1920;s.
Next Tuesday we are due to play Corinthian
Casuals in the league. This will be
postponed if todays match is drawn.
Enjoy the game!
John

The
Chairman’s
Column
Our winning streak finally came to an end against Dorking on Tuesday night and
considering the injuries to the squad I thought we played well. Dorking deserve to
be second their, second half performance was very good and they held on to
their lead very well.
They beat us in the FA Cup last year when they were a league below and I
thought they were a good side then.
We have another tricky game today and we hope todays visitors from a step below
do not do a Dorking on us!
Easily the biggest game since I have been involved today, let hope we get a good
crowd behind us which is the very least our players deserve.
Have a good day.
Mo
Todays Mascot is Reece Joines
players Harry, Jono, Conrad, Hich, Tom, Ollie
Brown, Adam and basically the whole of Sittingbourne ‘s team!!
Reece’s 2nd hobby is anything to do with Eddie Stobbart.
From the Programme editor
A warm welcome to Hoddesdon Town. They
are probably an unknown team to most of our
supporters but I last watched Hoddesdon
Town play back in the 1960’s and early 70’s
when I used to live in Hampton. They were
always a thorn in Hampton’s side and a good
team. I also remember their star player of
those times, Micky Droy, who some of you
may know, (the much older ones!) went on to
play for Chelsea.
As their history shows they are an old club, as
old as us, but unlike us they have played at
the same ground, Lowfield, since 1899, we of
course have had at least 4 grounds since then
and are contemplating another, albeit small
move. Hoddesdon Town have also more or
less stayed n the same league (the Spartan
league) for much of that time also, whereas
we have swopped between the Kent league,
Southern League and now Isthmian league. I
understand that Hoddesdon Town are also
famous for producing large match day programmes
so apologies to them as this one is
only 36 pages!
Their greatest claim to fame though is probably
that they were the first winners of the FA
Vase back in 1975 at Wembley in front of
10,000 spectators.
The fixtures keep on changing because of the
success that the club is having so apologies if
mistakes creep in..although I believe that the
fixture list in this programme and on the web
site is now accurate! If we win this one then
there will be another change ,and also if we
succeed at Walton Casuals in the FA Trophy
that will also bring another change. The assistant
manager Tony Cornwell said to the committee,
long may it continue (because it
means that we are winning!) It also means
that we are playing two games a week from
now on right into December which is really
going to stretch the squad.
Finally you all know that you are the true 12th
man so please continue to give the team the
same magnificent support that you have given
them this whole season.
Emirates FA Cup
1st Qualifying Round Replay
Sittingbourne 1 Metropolitan Police 0,
att 141
The best night Sittingbourne have enjoyed
since moving to Woodstock saw them storm
excitingly through to the second qualifying
round of the FA Cup.
Highlights of a memorable evening included:
An 86th minute winning goal.
A penalty save by the outstanding Adam
Molloy.
Another £3,000 in club funds from the FA.
Victory over opposition from a higher division.
Extending their unbeaten run to seven games.
Cheered on by their excellent fans, Sittingbourne
deserved to go through for a spirited
and battling display after holding Met Police
to a goalless draw on their own ground on Saturday.
They made three changes from that team, with
manager Nick Davis replacing the injured
George Crimmen in defence, and Miles Cornwell
and Adam Williams starting in place of Ollie
Bankole and Fred Obasa.
With ball-boys from Sittingbourne’s fastgrowing
youth section adding to the big match
atmosphere, the game started evenly with both
defences looking tough to break down.
Against players used to the quicker speed of
Ryman Premier Division football, Sittingbourne
too often sacrificed possession by passing too
hastily but dug in deep and worked hard for
each other.
Molloy, back to his very best form, made one
excellent save and Met Police squandered a
great early chance when a neat passing move
split the defence only for Turner to blaze over.
At the other end, Harry Smith almost scored
with a close range effort that was scrambled
clear, and put another header just wide, while
Williams shot wide when picked out by Smith
in a good place for a shot.
Into the second half and Sittingbourne were
still defending strongly with Davis and Jono
Richardson defiant in the middle and full-backs
Tom Brunt and Conrad Lee keeping the Met
Police wide players quiet.
In front of the back four Ollie Brown had surely
his best ever game for Sittingbourne, while
Smith was again outstanding with the constant
threat he provided up front to go alongside a
tremendous contribution in defence as well as
winning plenty of midfield headers.
Met Police forced lots of corners but Sittingbourne
defended them well and when Richardson
got back just in time to cleverly block
Caubo’s header, the game could well have
been heading for extra time and even a penalty
shoot-out.
But it all happened in a dramatic last 10
minutes.
Brown was harshly adjudged to have fouled
Police striker Nurse as he raced into the box
but from the resultant penalty the diving Molloy
cleverly saved Collins’ fierce straight drive with
his legs. Molloy’s made plenty of penalty saves
in an excellent career with Sittingbourne and
this was no fluke.
How vital it proved as just four minutes later
Sittingbourne thrillingly won it. A right-wing corner
by sub Jake Beecroft on his welcome return
from holiday was headed goalwards by
that man Smith and Richardson deflected it
past the keeper from close in.
Cue delighted celebrations but Sittingbourne
still had to see it through and they didn’t clinch
the win for certain until deep into added time
when Molloy made another terrific block with
his knees as Ahamed closed in on goal at the
far post.
That’s seven games unbeaten for Sittingbourne
and a home tie in the next round
against Hoddesdon a week on Saturday. Stand
by for more excitement and drama.
Sittingbourne: Molloy, Brunt, Lee, Davis
(Steventon 84 mins), Richardson, Brown,
Nick’s Notes
Unfortunately our fantastic run came to an end on Tuesday evening at home to
Dorking. There was little between the two teams in my opinion and the game
could have gone either way. A draw would have been a fair result but we didn’t
take our chances when we were on top and so paid the consequences.
Dorking are tipped to be pushing Folkestone for the league title this year and so
for us to be matching them means we are not far away from being a side that
can compete with the top 10 and with a little bit of luck a playoff place come the
end of the season and this is a target we as a team we believe we can achieve.
Our attentions now turn to the FA cup and what will be a really tough game
against Hoddesdon and the potential of progressing to the third qualifying round
and prize fund of £4500. We will approach the game as we do any another and
have given Hoddesdon the utmost respect as they deserve.
Keep getting behind the lads
Saturday 19th September 2015
Ryman League Div 1 South
Whyteleafe1 Sittingbourne 2, att 135
Injury-hit Sittingbourne clinched their fifth successive
league win thanks to two excellentlyworked
second half goals.
Victory away to a team who were good enough
to reach the promotion play-offs last season
took Sittingbourne up to fifth in the Division One
South table.
They’ve lost only once in 11 league and cup
games but this one was against all the odds
with two of the club’s under-21 team having to
be pressed into service as substitutes. And
both of them, Callum Naessens and Caleb
Bearnan, came on late in the game for their
senior football debuts.
Sittingbourne were without George Crimmen,
Ollie Bankole, Nick Davis, Adam Williams and
Miles Cornwell because of injury. As manager,
Davis was obviously there anyway but all the
other injured players turned up to support their
teammates. Spirit is sky-high in the Sittingbourne
camp at the moment.
A flurry of injuries gives other squad members
their chance to shine, and Jake Beecroft, Jack
Steventon and Fred Obasa all returned to the
starting line-up after figuring as substitutes in
Tuesday night’s FA Cup replay win over Met
Police.
Obasa rewarded his selection by scoring the
second goal to complete a stunning Sittingbourne
move, while unflustered teenager
Steventon had an outstanding game in defence
and was man-of-the-match for many of the
fans.
On a beautiful afternoon in the Surrey sunshine,
the teams battled out an even first half
on Whyteleafe's artificial pitch with very few
chances at either end.
The home team’s finishing was weak compared
with their build-up play while Sittingbourne defended
strongly and played some nice football
going forward but didn’t create much.
They had to wait until the 43rd minute before
forcing their first corner whereas Whyteleafe
had to wait until first half injury time before going
anywhere near close, Henry shooting
across goal but beyond the far post.
The second half was a different story and within
three minutes Sittingbourne were ahead. The
again excellent Conrad Lee combined with
Beecroft and then Obasa down the left before
pulling back a clever cross for Harry Smith to
thunder into the roof of the net his fifth goal of
the season.
Whyteleafe tried to push for the equaliser but
goalkeeper Adam Molloy, the penalty hero in
the Cup on Tuesday night, made a tremendous
save at point blank range to keep Sittingbourne
ahead.
And soon after they made it 2-0 with a brilliant
goal. Captain Tom Brunt raced into the penalty
area after a neat and quick build-up and played
the ball in to Smith. The big striker cleverly
back-heeled the ball first time into Brunt’s path
12 yards from goal. The skipper doesn’t normally
need a second invitation to shoot but,
again without pausing, he unselfishly squared
the ball across goal for Obasa to score comfortably.
A glorious goal to wrap up the points.
Whyteleafe kept battling and despite being
foiled by another amazing Molloy double-save,
they scored a consolation deep into added time
when a throw-in was helped on to the far post
where sub Moody had a simple tap-in. It was
the first goal Sittingbourne had conceded for
four matches.
Manager Nick Davis said afterwards: “We were
up against it coming here, with our squad down
to the bare bones because of injuries. But we
showed our strength in depth and this was an
excellent win.
“Everyone’s loving it at the moment, the place
was electric after that Cup replay win, but
you’ve got to have your feet back on the ground
by the time you come to a place like Whyteleafe
and start all over again for a bread and
butter league match. They’re a tough team to
beat so I’m delighted, especially with the effort
and spirit. Long may it continue.”
Sittingbourne: Molloy, Brunt, Lee, Steventon,
Richardson, Brown, Wright, Beecroft (Gonnella
66 mins), Smith, (Naessens 85 mins), Obasa
to the construction industry. Our client base includes
subcontractors, contractors, corporates, private
businesses and public sector organisations. We adopt
industry accepted approaches to cost management/
procurement. We apply these diligently and conscientiously
to each project.
Our staff regularly undertake CPD training and university
studies in order to keep abreast of developments
in the industry. In addition to our collective experience
and expertise, Our software systems enable us to deliver
looking at ways in which we can further benefit
our clients using Building Information Model [BIM].
Many of QS Consults’ clients are already involved in the construction industry with
our services complementing their own. By way of example with public sector clients
we can prepare cost studies (including market testing) to enable them to make
more informed decisions regarding proposed projects and estates strategies.
On the other hand for contractors and sub-contractor’s we provide estimating and
tendering services allowing them to focus on their core business of delivering construction
projects. Just some of our projects are shown below:
Some clients we work with may have never been involved in construction before
and may be considering a one-off construction project. As quantity surveyors we
can provide guidance on managing costs and how to minimise costs risks associated
with construction projects. Some clients we work with may have never been involved
