Documentation of the work on the Puurmani Manor
damaged caused by insects, rodents or mould on time.
– Special care must be taken of the walls nr. 1–5 (exterior
walls on the park side), that are most vulnerable to damage
caused by humidity.
If too much dust accumulates on the surface of the
wallpaper, it needs to be cleaned with soft brushes.
It is recommended:
– to keep windows closed
– to cover windows with a layer of UV protection sticker
– to protect the surface sided by doors with a layer of
transparent plexiglass
– not to touch the surface of the wallpaper
– not to place furniture too close to the wall
– not to take photographs with flash
In case of any problems concerning preserving the wallpaper,
a conservation specialist should be contacted.

Location on wall/ceiling: Wallpaper covers three walls of the room (wallsegments 1, 3,
4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 14; see Figure 163) from floor moulding up
to the height of 174 cm. It is not known how much of the first
wallpaper layer has been preserved.

Wallpapers were partially dismounted by Kadri Kallaste
and Kristiina Ribelus in February 2010.
Dismounted strips were heavily moulded and needed
to be treated in a restoration workshop. One of the strips
was scanned in to make reconstructions.

The wall under the original wallpaper was adhered with
two layers of methylcellolose and covered with japanese
paper (kozo, 36 g/m 2 ). For attaching the wallpaper onto
the wall, methylcellulose was used.
