Approximately 48% <strong>of</strong> cooperatives who received<br />
assistance <strong>in</strong>dicated that it had benefited <strong>the</strong>m <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong>ir<br />
bus<strong>in</strong>ess, but mentioned that <strong>the</strong>y would like to<br />
receive more support as <strong>the</strong>re are still elements lack<strong>in</strong>g<br />
<strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong>ir bus<strong>in</strong>ess. Of <strong>the</strong> cooperatives surveyed, 44%<br />
had not received any support from external<br />
organisations. Positively, 8% <strong>of</strong> cooperatives had<br />
48% <strong>of</strong> cooperatives who received<br />
assistance said that it had benefited<br />
<strong>the</strong>m <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong>ir bus<strong>in</strong>ess but<br />
mentioned that <strong>the</strong>y would like to<br />
receive more support<br />
received support and attributed <strong>the</strong> success <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>ir bus<strong>in</strong>ess to <strong>the</strong> support that had been provided.<br />
Figure 4-17 below illustrates <strong>the</strong> types <strong>of</strong> support cooperatives would like to receive. This relates<br />
closely to <strong>the</strong> challenges cooperatives are fac<strong>in</strong>g at present (see below). F<strong>in</strong>ancial assistance is<br />
identified most <strong>of</strong>ten as <strong>the</strong> type <strong>of</strong> support cooperatives would like to receive, followed closely by<br />
tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g and equipment. The category ‘o<strong>the</strong>r’ above <strong>in</strong>cludes assistance with <strong>in</strong>puts/feed, electricity<br />
& water, transport and security.<br />
