<strong>Weatherford</strong>’s HAS vent/dump valve is a hydraulically actuated system that<br />
vents gas from the casing below a packer into the annulus to help maintain<br />
an optimum fluid level for an electrical submersible pump (ESP). The<br />
system has an integral, built-in annulus valve installed above a multistring<br />
packer.<br />
Pressure from the control line opens the valve to vent the gas, and<br />
pressure loss closes the valve and ends communication. Pressure applied<br />
to the annulus at a predetermined shear value opens the valve ports.<br />

• Positive control-line pressure opens the valve, and pressure loss<br />
immediately closes it to control the gas content of fluid entering the ESP,<br />
improving pump efficiency.<br />
• The valve vents gas from below the packer to maintain optimum fluid<br />
levels, protecting the ESP from excessive wear and burnout.<br />
• The valve drains fluid from the tubing to remove hydrostatic pressure for<br />
safe ESP retrieval.
