Not unexpectedly, despite there remaining a large pool of non‐member Old Boys, new memberships have dwindled, leading to income dwindling, with the result that re‐ serves are rapidly being depleted. Contained within this issue is an Appeal form. Please don’t ‘bin’ it! Read it, read the President’s appeal on page 1, read the Secre‐ tary’s and the Treasurer’s reports – then complete and return the form and be as gen‐ erous as you can. Thank you to those members who have sub‐ mitted old newsprint photographs. These are welcome for our archives, but unfortunately will not reproduce sufficiently well to appear in Summer Times or the OSA Web site. Finally, very many thanks to all contributors; to proof readers; to committee members who turn up for committee meetings and then are faced with an ‘Agenda’ of enveloping, label‐ ling and mailing each copy to around 660 members; and lastly to all our members without whom there wouldn’t be The Old Scarborians’ Association, or Summer Times. David Fowler (1949-55) Editor PRESIDENTIAL May I say how honoured I was to be re‐elected as President this year. Again the year started with the Christmas Din‐ ner, which I hope all pre‐ sent were able to enjoy and accept that all is done for the good of the Association regardless of the way it sometimes appears. There was a break with tradition this year as the Boxing Day rugby was played on the 27th December in front of quite a large crowd. Once again Peter Pan Emms turned out but there was a train of thought that he played a far more important role when he 4 was substituted and started serving port! Well done Peter. The trophy was presented by our youngest old boy and the Rugby Clubʹs captain Nigel Wilson. Although he was there kitted up he was, for some reason, unable to get a game for either side! Again we thank Barry Beanland for his ef‐ forts with this fixture. The only other event prior to this issue was Bob Watsonʹs 81st birthday do. Bob is still as sprightly as ever. To finish I would like once again to thank the committee for their continual support, to Chris for keeping us solvent, Colin for taking on the role of Membership Secretary, David for Summer Times and Bill for the Web site. Last but by no means least, of course, Peter for his continuous hard work on the OSAʹs behalf. Mick Bowman (1954-61) President SECRETARIAL numbers. Following his election as Membership Secretary at the AGM in Nov 2003, I have passed the member‐ ship files to Colin Hurd. In future he will be reporting amongst other things, the trend in membership I retain the sad responsibility of reporting the deaths of members. During the past six months, I have been informed of the passing of the following:‐ David Mclintock (1939‐46), Robin Pinder (1947‐54) and Joe Cooper (1936‐44). I also saw announcements con‐ cerning Robert Palmer, Geoff White and George Cooper, who were Old Scabs but not members of the Association. With this edition you will find an Appeal
