Rounding Up and Pointing the Way Forward

This presentation will focus on some of the research highlights of the conference and attempt
to integrate the various approaches to examine the direction and likely progress that the
science of Nematology will take in the near future. The usefulness of such conferences from a
scientific and, of course, a social standpoint will be examined, with the author’s experience of
other meetings being central to the analysis. The author’s opinion about the long-term
changes in other aspects, such as journals, publications, teaching and funding will also be
presented.
