2008 CANISIUS COLLEGE SOFTBALL COACHING STAFF Kim Dodson Assistant Coach Third Season Kim Dodson is entering her third season on the Canisius College softball coaching staff. She will once again serve as the team’s hitting coach, while also acting as the team’s first base coach and dealing with the Griffs’ infield defense. A four-time letterwinner at St. Bonaventure, Dodson led the 2005 Bonnies’ softball team to a 14-26 overall record and an 8-6 mark in Atlantic 10 action, which set a school record for conference wins in a single season. The Bonnies made their first appearance in the conference postseason, and Dodson closed out her senior campaign with a .281 batting average, the fourth-straight season the Tonawanda High school graduate led the team in hitting. As a junior at St. Bonaventure, Dodson was a first-team allconference selection. She led the league and set a school record with a .429 batting average after collecting 45 hits, seven doubles, and scoring 19 runs. As a freshman, she ranked sixth in the A-10 with her .342 batting average and led the Bonnies in hits (38) and at-bats (111). She started all 150 games in her four years in Olean, N.Y. Dodson was also honored for her work in the classroom. She was an ESPN the Magazine All-America Third-Team selection after her senior year, and was named the Atlantic 10 Softball Student-Athlete of the Year in 2004. She graduated magna cum laude with her degree in business management in May 2005, and is currently working towards her master’s degree in sport administration at the College. Pete Scott Assistant Coach Third Season Long-time high school coach Pete Scott is in his third year as an assistant coach on Mike Rappl’s staff. Scott coached softball at nearby Depew High School for a total of 26 years, with 17 of those seasons as the school’s head coach. He will once again serve as the team’s pitching coach, while also assisting with the development of the Golden Griffins’ team bunting and slapping offense. A life-long resident of western New York, Scott received his bachelor’s degree from Canisius in 1972, and then earned his master’s degree at the College in 1975. He retired from teaching English at Depew High School in June 2005 after 33 years of service. In addition to teaching and coaching, Scott also served as the Student Senate Activity Advisor at Depew for 25 years. Scott helped lead the Wildcats to five sectional titles and nine divisional crowns, and was twice named the Section VI Coach of the Year. He served as the ECIC Softball Chairman for 13 years and the Section VI Softball chair for 12 years. In 2005, Scott was honored for his work to promote the game by being inducted into the Western New York Softball Hall of Fame. Scott and his wife of 34 years, Joan, have three children and two grandchildren. Kim Griffin Volunteer Assistant Coach First Season Kim Griffin is in her first season as a volunteer assistant on Mike Rappl’s coaching staff. The 2007 graduate of Mercyhurst College is no stranger to western New York, having earned four varsity letters as a softball player at nearby Cleveland Hill High School. Griffin closed out her collegiate playing career at Mercyhurst having played in 130 career games. As a senior, she hit .264 with three homer and 18 RBIs, while ranking third on the team in on-base percentage (.346), fourth in runs batted in and fifth in total bases (46). She also served as one of the Lakers’ pitchers, starting 16 games in 2007 where she posted a 6-8 record with a save and a 3.52 ERA. A three-time GLIAC All-Academic Team honoree, Griffin was also honored as a 2006 All-GLIAC Honorable Mention award winner after she hit .322 with six doubles and 22 runs batted in.

Before Canisius: Hit .263 (31-for-118) with six doubles, two homers, and 17 RBIs as a freshman at St. Bonaventure… Played in 40 of the Bonnies’ games during the 2005 season… Was a second-team all-state and an All-Western New York choice after her senior year at Orchard Park High School… Named the ECIC Player of the Year after hitting .447 with 20 runs scored as a senior… Also won varsity letters in basketball and volleyball. Personal: The daughter of Carl and Darlene Bonetto, Ashley is majoring in physical education at Canisius… Joined the Canisius softball program for the 2006 campaign with her twin sister Brittany. Born: April 20, 1986. 2006: Played in all 51 games, making 45 starts… Hit .236 (29-for-123) with 14 runs scored and 10 RBIs while primarily playing in right field for the Griffs… Hit three doubles and a homer, while also swiping two bases… Picked up her first hit as a Canisius player at Norfolk State… Had four multi-hit games… Led the team with 12 sacrifice hits… Posted a .971 fielding percentage. Before Canisius: Played in 19 games, making two starts at St. Bonaventure in 2005… Hit .200 (3-for- 15) with two runs scored and two runs batted in… Was a first-team All-ECIC selection as a senior at Orchard Park… Batted .300 in her senior season, where she also posted a .989 fielding percentage… Also won four varsity letters in basketball and volleyball.
