Height<br />

The height under the Brisbane Gateway Bridge, with<br />

the construction of the duplicate bridge, is 54.4m at<br />

the centre of the span and 50.8m at the cutting edge<br />

above HAT.<br />

Vessels with an uppermost height (air draft) exceeding<br />

48m must obtain written permission from the Manager<br />

(Vessel Traffic Management) before passing under<br />

the bridge.<br />

The Port Procedures Manual for the Port of<br />

Brisbane lists in detail all vessel-movement,<br />

restriction, communication, towage, pilotage,<br />

emergency, navigation, berth, channel, depth<br />

and swing-basin information.<br />

Notifications of ETA<br />

Masters of all vessels arriving at Brisbane should keep<br />

their agents informed of their ETA and arrival draft.<br />

Agents should inform Brisbane Port Control, “Brisbane<br />

Harbour”, 48 and 24 hours prior to the tentative ETA<br />

of vessels.<br />

If this subsequently varies by more than one hour, the<br />

agent should inform Port Control so that the shipping<br />

schedule can be modified. Masters can also confirm their<br />

ETA direct to Brisbane Port Control:<br />

Masters should contact “Brisbane Harbour” on VHF<br />

channels 12 or 16 at a minimum of two hours and then<br />

one hour prior to arrival at Point Cartwright to confirm<br />

ETA and obtain pilot’s boarding/ladder information.<br />
