<strong>Streetscape</strong> Furniture<br />
The objective for streetscape furniture in downtown <strong>Hagersville</strong> is to<br />
enhance the quality of streetscapes and provide encouragement for<br />
non‐automobile travel throughout the area. <strong>Streetscape</strong> amenities<br />
should:<br />
a) Be selected as a consistent style, with each of the elements<br />
forming a definable package, and of a high aesthetic quality and<br />
durability.<br />
b) Be located and spaced in a consistent pattern along streetscape,<br />
focusing clusters in higher activity areas.<br />
c) Be generally located in line with public street tree plantings near<br />
the curb edge so as to maintain an unobstructed pedestrian<br />
route on the sidewalk.<br />
d) Have a style that complements the overall character and<br />
identity of the gateway entrance features and wayfinding<br />
signage.<br />
e) Include garbage receptacles that have relatively small openings<br />
to prohibit people from overloading the receptacle and keyaccessible<br />
for County workers.<br />
f) Include benches that are made of high quality materials such as<br />
powder‐coated steel to increase durability and decrease<br />
opportunity of damage due to vandalism. Benches should be<br />
securely fastened to poured concrete pads offset the walkway<br />
to avoid conflict with pedestrian travel.<br />
g) Include lighting standards that achieves the necessary level of<br />
illumination required for providing safety for vehicular visibility<br />
and pedestrian comfort and safety.<br />
h) Include bike racks that have a minimum height of 0.8 metres to<br />
prevent a tripping hazard and should be provided at points of<br />
interest (such as the market square), with a minimum of two<br />
