) Surface markings that reflect the historic transportation<br />
roots of the community, include the former “<strong>Plan</strong>k Road”<br />
and the rail lines;<br />
c) Curb extensions, where feasible, at the four corners of the<br />
intersection to shorten the pedestrian crossing distance<br />
and visually “tighten” the intersection;<br />
d) Different colour and markings on the surfaces of the<br />
pedestrian crosswalks and the area inside the intersection<br />
to differentiate;<br />
e) Wayfinding signage at the southeast and northwest<br />
corners of the intersection to direct visitors;<br />
f) Façade improvements to the three privately‐owned<br />
buildings framing the intersection, potentially utilizing the<br />
programs in the Haldimand County Downtown Areas<br />
Community Improvement <strong>Plan</strong> (together with the longterm<br />
consideration of architectural improvements to the<br />
County building’s façade); and<br />
g) Phasing and possibly delaying the improvements until a<br />
direction for a potential Highway No. 6 realignment is<br />
determined (see “Moving Forward” chapter below).<br />
