The Clifton Club
The Clifton Club is Bristol’s oldest existing Private
Members’ Club located in a glorious Georgian building
in the heart of Clifton Village. Traditional elegance
and grand interiors provide exquisite surroundings in
which male and female Members of all ages can relax
and socialise with like-minded people. The Clifton
Club also offers modern facilities, high quality food
and enviable customer service, resulting in a truly
exclusive experience for every Member.
Founded by a group of gentlemen in 1818, the
Club boasts a fascinating history. For many,
Membership represents the opportunity to
become part of this history and thus exclusivity is
crucial to maintaining the high standards that are
inherent to the Club’s existence. The Club prides
itself on its ability to offer a Membership experience
that combines an appreciation of tradition with a
contemporary outlook.

Rooms & Facilities
The Club offers a unique collection of
rooms and facilities with Wi-Fi throughout.
The Drawing Room Bar and Lounge
overlook Caledonia Gardens and provide
the perfect retreat away from the busy
streets of Clifton village.
The wonderfully impressive Dining Room
and Centenary Rooms are filled with
natural light through the domed ceilings.
The splendid Greenway Room, named
after the designer Francis Greenway, is
bright, airy and spacious.
The Snooker Room features two full sized
snooker tables.
The Club Room can be used either as a
tranquil haven or a social hub for activities
and events.

Dining Facilities

Lunch is served daily in the Dining Room.
In addition, Members can attend weekly Thursday
evening Club Suppers, monthly Ladies’ Lunches
and Family Sunday Lunches, Quarterly Taster
Dinners, and various annual Formal Dinner events
throughout the calendar year. Members are also
welcome to arrange private dining events subject
to availability.
The Bar and Lounge
Members can expect to pay less for drinks at the
Club bar than they would pay at other local bars
and public houses.

Becoming a Member
There are two ways in which prospective
Members can apply for Membership of The
Clifton Club. The traditional route is through
recommendation by two individuals who have
been Members of the Club for three years or
more. In this case, one Member must act as the
proposer and another as a seconder. Alternatively,
it is possible to take up probationary Membership
which involves an initial trial period of four
months, after which the application will be
reviewed and the Member can be fully elected.nd
