JULIE LYONN LIEBERMAN 

An eclectic styles violinist and vocalist, Julie Lyonn Lieberman specializes in improvisation and 

American vernacular as well as world styles. She is a D'Addario Elite Clinician and has presented 

master classes in school systems throughout the United States. A co-author of American 

String Teachers Association's national curriculum book, she is the Artistic Director for the summer 

program, Strings Without Boundaries. She is also the author of StringsCentral, an app for 

iPad, as well as eight music books, two National Public radio series, six DVD’s and over fifty 

magazine articles. Lieberman is the recipient of over two dozen ASCAP awards and eight Meet 

The Composer awards. She has performed her original music on and off Broadway, throughout 

the U.S., Canada, and in Europe, and on television and radio.

With degrees from the Manhattan School of Music 

(NY), John Caponegro has also completed postgraduate 

work at Columbia Teachers College, New 

York University and Long Island University (NY). His 

40 years of teaching experience at all levels in the 

public schools have made him keenly aware of the 

musical needs of students and teachers. 

Elliot A. Del Borgo holds degrees from the State 

University of New York, Temple University and the 

Philadelphia (PA) Conservatory, where he studied 

with Vincent Persichetti. Former Professor of Music 

at the Crane School of Music (NY), and composer 

of music for the 1980 Olympic Winter Games in 

Lake Placid (NY), much of Del Borgo’s work is 

available from several leading publishers. 

Steven Frackenpohl currently teaches at the West 

Genesee School District in Camillus (NY). He has 

received degrees from Ithaca College (NY) and 

the Crane School of Music (NY). His experience 

as a performer, teacher and director leads to an 

understanding of orchestral writing and arranging 

for student groups. 

Jeffrey Frizzi, a graduate of Indiana State 

University, has taught both band and orchestra 

during his 18 year teaching career. Currently the 

orchestra director and department chair at Clay 

Middle School in Carmel (IN), he won the 2003 

ASTA Merle J. Isaac Composition Contest with 

“Elegy for Remembrance,” a musical account of the 

September 11th terrorist attacks. 

Drawing from his years of teaching experience in 

Utah’s Cache County School District, the expertise 

of Robert S. Frost in the educational string field is 

recognized worldwide. With graduate and undergraduate 

degrees from Utah State University, and a 

doctorate in music education from the University of 

Northern Colorado, he served as president of the 

National School Orchestra Association and the Utah 

chapter of the American String Teachers 

Association. 

George T. Frueh has worked as a professional 

bassist in and around the Philadelphia (PA) area for 

over 30 years. Having taught all levels of strings, 

from elementary through high school, he is currently 

on the Instrumental Music Team within the Abington 

(PA) School District. He holds a bachelor of arts 

degree in music education from Temple University 

and a masters degree in education from Arcadia 

University. 

A graduate of Seattle Pacific University (WA) and 

New Mexico State University, Frank J. Halferty has 

extensive experience teaching instrumental and 

choral music from the elementary to college levels. 

An array of his originals and arrangements for 

school musicians are available from several leading 

educational publishers. 

Michael Hopkins is an Associate Professor of 

music at the University of Vermont, where he 

conducts the University Symphony Orchestra and 

teaches courses in music education and music 

technology. Hopkins holds a bachelor's degree in 

music education from Colorado State University and 

a masters and doctorate from the University of 

Michigan. 

An eclectic styles violinist and vocalist, Julie 

Lyonn Lieberman specializes in improvisation 

and American vernacular as well as world styles. 

She is a D'Addario Elite Clinician and has presented 

master classes in school systems throughout the 

United States. She is also the author of StringsCentral, 

an app for iPad, as well as eight music books, two 

National Public radio series, six DVD’s and over fifty 

magazine articles. 

Deborah Baker Monday is a cello/bass specialist 

in the Logan City School District (UT). An active 

bass performer and private teacher, she has also 

served as adjunct bass instructor at Utah State 

University. She co-authored the “Strings 

Extraordinaire” collection and her works have been 

published with a number of companies. 

Upon his graduation from the Guangzhou 

Conservatory of Music (China) in 1975, Albert 

Wang served as principal violist with the 

Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra for over ten 

years. In 1986 he began a highly successful career 

as a freelance composer and producer. In 2006, he 

earned a Sound Design Certificate from New York 

University.
