The military, as a social organization, tends to optimise<br />

its activity, as its resources offered by society are limited and<br />

conditioned. For that purpose, it uses mo<strong>de</strong>rn leading structures<br />

methods and techniques, as <strong>management</strong> and lea<strong>de</strong>rship.<br />

<strong>Lea<strong>de</strong>rship</strong> is the art of inciting people to touch special<br />

objectives or purposes, to motivate themselves and to motivate<br />

others. Also, lea<strong>de</strong>rship means the ability of getting the<br />

maximum of support and effort from a group, of perceiving and<br />

admitting an issue, of having a solution and solving.<br />

Management is the leading process, control and<br />

coordination of the activities from an organization/institution,<br />

together with the responsibles. For the military field, generally<br />

speaking, <strong>management</strong> is the ensemble of principles, methods<br />

and techniques used by comman<strong>de</strong>rs for fulfilling the tasks<br />

assigned to a specific structure (military unit, for example),<br />

with a minimum loss of human and material resources.<br />

The military lea<strong>de</strong>rship and <strong>management</strong> are different,<br />

although they are inter<strong>de</strong>pen<strong>de</strong>nt and intercondition each other,<br />

in the military’s activity and life, perceived as a social<br />

organization.<br />
