IIBI’s Post Graduate Diploma (PGD) course<br />

in Islamic <strong>banking</strong> <strong>and</strong> insurance, offered<br />

since 1994 <strong>and</strong> updated in early 2008, is<br />

highly regarded worldwide. UK-based<br />

Durham University has accorded<br />

recognition to this course as an entry<br />

qualification to the University's Research<br />

MA as well as its modules on Islamic<br />

economics <strong>and</strong> Shari’ah-compliant <strong>finance</strong>.<br />

To date, students from 77 countries have<br />

enrolled in the PGD course. In July <strong>and</strong><br />

August 2008, the following students<br />

Although I would not regard myself as a beginner in<br />

this field, I found the course both interesting <strong>and</strong><br />

thought-provoking. It is an excellent course for beginners<br />

as well as those who have a good underst<strong>and</strong>ing of<br />

Islamic <strong>finance</strong> because it contains the right balance<br />

between basic information <strong>and</strong> objective analysis of the<br />

interaction between Shari’ah principles <strong>and</strong> conventional<br />

<strong>banking</strong> <strong>and</strong> insurance. I would recommend the course to<br />

financiers, lawyers, bankers, insurers, accountants<br />

<strong>and</strong> academics seeking knowledge in a different principle.<br />

In short, an enjoyable learning experience for which I<br />

would like to thank my tutor <strong>and</strong> the management of the<br />

IIBI.<br />
