Honoring Tradition -
Moving Forward
Thank you. Thank you to all the
Nobles and Ladies that have helped and
supported us over the last 9 years. Thank
you to Past Potentate Hank Paulson for
seeing something in me that could help
Osman Shrine. Thank you to the Nobles
for your confidence in me by allowing me
to be your Potentate for 2012. Thank you
to my family, Joan, Katherine, Marianne,
Frank IV, my aunt Evelyn, my mother-inlaw
Joan Mueller, and my father-in-law
John who resides with the Supreme
Architect of the Universe.
Over the past nine years on the Divan,
I hope that I have made decisions for the
betterment of Osman Shrine. I will
continue to look to the future of Osman
Shrine serving as your Potentate.
In my journey through Freemasonry, I
have been actively involved with my
Lodge, Newport #118, the St. Paul Valley
of the Scottish Rite, Grand Lodge of MN
and Osman Shrine. Through this
involvement, I have come to cherish many
traditions and have defended these
traditions to all parties. While these
traditions are very valuable and necessary,
we must recognize that we are now in the
21st century.
I started messing around with
computers by stealing time from the
engineers where I worked in the mid
1980's. The power and ability of the
computer I worked on then had less
power and storage than my two-year old
smart phone. But I recognized then how
it could transform how I worked and
what the future could bring.
Technology has leapfrogged over those
25 years with the expansion of the
internet, web pages, social
networking, email, video,
iPhone, Android, etc. With
these leaps in technology, we
sometimes forget that we are
humans that need real
interaction with one another.
Maybe that is why I have been
such an advocate for the old
penalties, ritual work that is
delivered with meaning rather than rote
memorization, welcoming a new brother
or Noble to make sure that they know
who they can turn to for answers and
conversation.
The theme for the year is Honoring
Tradition - Moving Forward. We need
to recognize and use those traditions that
have served organized Freemasonry well
for almost 300 years, while at the same
time utilizing the inventions and means of
the 21st century to communicate and
expand our presence to the world within
and without our portal.
We have a lot of great activities
planned for our Nobles and Ladies, as well
as prospective families this year.
We have a goal of 100 new Nobles for
the year. To help accomplish that, we will
be holding prospect parties throughout
the year. We will have our first
Ceremonial on February 26, which will
follow our Ladies’ Appreciation Brunch.
We will have a
There will be plenty of opportunities to
show potential candidates the
warm and gracious glow of
Osman Shrine.
We are organizing two
trips in 2012 which are open
for all - Nobles and Ladies and
those who wish to see how much
fun Osman Shrine life can be.
Our first trip of the year is a
traditional train trip to Chicago in
antique refurbished railcars and we will
stay at the Palmer House Hilton Hotel.
Info on this trip is in this issue. The
second trip is a Fall Leaf Hunt into
Boston, Massachusetts and Maine. More
on that later in the year.
To help us on the Divan, I have
appointed Roberto Sean Gardiner as the
Outer Guard. Sean, his Lady Tracy and
their son Ian helped us tremendously by
taking care of cotton candy production
and sales at the 2011 Circus. Sean has
shown his leadership, management and
ritual skills with his lodge, York Rite and
Scottish Rite. Not to mention that he is a
techno geek. Please welcome Sean, Tracy
and Ian the next time you see them.
I hope you are ready for an exciting
and eventful year with Osman Shrine. I
know that Joan and I are. We thank each
and every Noble and their Lady for being
a part of Osman Shrine and we look
forward to seeing you at the next event.
My Masonic Heritage was a big factor
in my entering the Craft. My father,
Grandfather, and six additional
generations were all Masons. My
Grandfather was a Shriner with Rajah
Shrine in Pennsylvania.
I was raised a Master Mason on
December 1, 2007 with Dakota Lodge #7
in Hastings. I had the honor and privilege
of serving as Master in 2011. In my
Masonic travels, I have had the great
fortune to be encouraged by my Brethren
to become active in all aspects of
Masonry. I’m a member of the St. Paul
Valley of the Scottish Rite, participating
in the Rose Croix and Knights of St.
Andrew. I’m also active in the York Rite,
belonging to Minnesota and Vermillion
Chapters, St. Paul Council, and
Damascus Commandery, among other
bodies. It has been a great journey that is
exemplified by our work in the Shrine.
I became a Shriner in January of 2008
with my fellow Brother and Legion of
Honor Noble Adam Barker. We were
“fezzed” by our Ladies. Noble Adam is a
Past Master of Dakota Lodge #7. Noble
David Barker and Noble Jim Moore
sponsored both of us into the Shrine and
Legion of Honor. The Legion has been
great to my family and me. They
immediately made us feel a part of a great
and loving family. I
started marching right
away in 2009. My first
introduction to the
Circus was taking
tickets with the Legion.
Seeing the faces of the
children as they come
in is truly priceless.
Motorcycle riding is
a passion. Tracy and I
ride a 2004 Harley
Davidson Heritage
Classic. In 2010, I was
fortunate enough to come into contact
with Noble Pete Staloch. He encouraged
me to join and ride with the Osman Cycle
Corps. It was always my dream to ride
with the Shrine Cycle Corps. I look
forward to improving my riding skills
under their tutelage.
I’ve been married to my lovely wife
Tracy for 16 years. We met in Illinois
where we were both working. If you have
the opportunity and the time, ask me
about the night the world stopped. I’ve
been working for United Health Group
I.T. for the last 6 years as an Operations
Support Manager. Tracy works at Best
Buy’s corporate headquarters as a Senior
Manager/Black Belt with the Lean Six
Sigma Group. Our lives brought us to
Minnesota where we had
our only son Ian. He is
15 and a dynamic
swimmer and trumpeter.
He swims as a
sophomore on the
Rosemount High School
Varsity team and plays
the trumpet in the Wind
Symphony Band. He is a
DeMolay with Lincoln
Chapter out of St. Paul.
Noble Marv
Felderman is to credit for
Ian’s love of our Circus. Noble Marv made
Ian’s experience as a Cotton Candy
hawker so enjoyable, he has done it the
last three years and looks forward to the
2012 Circus. Not only did Noble Marv
make a great impact on Ian, but Tracy as
well. When Marv asked us to step in for
him last year for Cotton Candy, Tracy said
we’d do anything for Marv. Thanks to the
“Cotton Candy Fairies”, as Tracy calls
them, for making our jobs fun! We greatly
enjoyed working with the Nobility and
look forward to this year’s Circus.
I am deeply honored that Ill. Sir Frank
Spevak asked me to join the Divan. It was
quite overwhelming, to consider being a
part of such a unique and singular group
of Nobles.
Potentate’s Lady Joan Spevak
Proud to be a Shriner’s Lady
Thank you for a wonderful holiday
season! We very much enjoyed getting
together and catching up with all the
marvelous people of Osman.
The Clubs & Units Holiday Party,
which includes the "Parade to Glory"
presentations, has always been a special
evening for me as we see the hard work
and effort everyone has accomplished
over the year come full circle back to the
children.
Our new Outer Guard's Lady is
Tracy Gardiner. Please welcome Tracy
when you meet her. I know she will
enjoy meeting all of you as I have over
the years.
Our theme this year is Honoring
Tradition … Moving forward. We
have created a Egyptian-themed tie and
a Lady’s Pin. The Ladies Pin was
designed by a fellow counterpart, Irene
M. Skene, from Khartum Shrine in
Winnipeg, Canada.
The Hearts on the pin represent the
love we have for the children we work
so very hard to help move forward with
their lives. The center of the pin is a
"Forget Me Not" flower to remember
Limited edition ties and forget-me-not pins
are available as a fundraiser for the
Transportation & Aid Fund. Watch for them
at upcoming events. They will be on sale
beginning at the Potentate's reception
and will be available as supplies last.
buying one - or two - as a gift for a
At the Potentate's Reception on
Sunday, January 8th, please remember
to pick up a "Save The Date" brochure
which will list all of the activities
planned - so far - for 2012. The Ladies
of the Divan are here to assist you.
Please contact me, or your Divan Reps'
Lady if you have any questions about
our activities.
We have many exciting activities
planned for our
members to share
this year. Please
consider bringing a
friend to show
them how much
fun we have at
Osman.
First up is the
"Ladies’
Appreciation
Luncheon"
on Sunday,
February
26th, at our
Osman
Shrine
Center.
Remember,
Ladies are
free and the men will be the servers!
Entertainment will be provided by our
superb Ceremonial Team. Come to
enjoy good food and friendship and stay
to enjoy the pyrotecs and magnificent
costuming and ritual work of Osman's
Ceremonial Team.
Thank You for allowing Frank and I
to be part of Osman Shrine. Being a
"Shriner's Daughter" and experiencing
hospital visits, parades, picnics and
family fun since I was a child reminds
me — every day — that I am very
proud to be a "Shriner's Lady" and to
continue the work of so many before in
Chanters
We have survived Thanksgiving and
Christmas and New Year’s activities and
parties. Hopefully everyone had a Merry
Christmas and is ready for the New Year.
We celebrated the New Year with a
brunch on New Year’s Day at the Osman
Shrine Center/Lost Spur. Chanters all
showed up and had a great time with
fellowship, food, champagne, and all the
other things that go with that kind of
celebration.
Our Chanter Christmas party was a lot
of fun. Everyone looked so nice in party
wear. We had installation for the new
officers, Jeff Keehn, President, Glen
Ode to the Chanters’ Ladies
Proudly penned by Marcella Strand
Behind every good man
There’s a good woman,
they say
And for Osman’s famed Chanters
It does seem that way.
O we are the Chanter Ladies,
yo ho!
We follow the
Chanters wherever
they go
We give them
their Fez
Check their outfit
is right
Then on to the
parade
To cheer with great
might.
There’s Barb A.
and Barb K.
And Marilyn too
Laura M. and
Laura K.
Do these name confuse you?
We count on Diane
to show us the way
She’s been to parades
by the dozens, they say
Pat’s looking for Jack,
He’s a big flirt, you know.
Pat has to work hard
To keep him in tow.
Marcella and Kay
are discussing their hostas
The varieties they have
are really a-lotsa
Elaine describes
all her traveling fun.
And June says, “We’ve moved now,
Thank goodness it’s done.”
Marcella Strand gets
a hug from Laura
Meyer after she read
her poem.
Anderson, Vice President, and Bob Meyer
as Secretary/Treasurer. Dean Strand, the
retiring President, wished them all the
Our good friend Nancy
has joined us
To snap pictures
and to cheer
Wish I had
dressed better
She’s focusing
right here.
We see the float
coming
So we holler and
cheer
For this is, thank
goodness
The last parade of
the year!
To the Oasis we go
And put on a show
That a hot dog for lunch
Is the real way to go
Now I could go on
About these wives, you know
They have so many virtues
That simply don’t show
They’re proud of their guys
Parades, meetings and all
As Shriners, Chanters deserve
To stand really tall!
You can dress them up but you can’t take them out. Chanters mug for the camera.
best for 2012. It was an
enjoyable time for all.
Our Potentate and
Divan Rep. were there
along with the Chief
Rabban from Zor
Temple in Madison,
Wisconsin, Larry
Riemenschneider and
his Lady. We were
pleased to see them all.
At the last Stated
Meeting, one of our
members, Gordon Eddy,
received an award for
being a 60-year member
of Osman. Gordon has
also been a member of
the Chanters for 60
years! He does not need
music to sing most of
Jeff Keehn “helps” John
Drake with his Fez.
our songs – he
just pulls
them out of
the computer
in his head
and sings
away with
gusto. What a
guy! (And as
a small
person, he
surely can
eat!) He
talked about a
trip he took
with Osman
on his 60 years as a Shriner.
and the best part was that Osman paid for
the whole trip for everyone.
May your troubles be less
And your blessings be more
And nothing but happiness
Come through your door.
Greetings Nobles and Ladies,
Here I am for another year. I hope you
had a great Christmas and I wish all of you
a blessed 2012.
We held our annual Christmas Party at
the Rochester Event Center this year with
nearly 100 attending. Installation of club
and Unit Officers was performed by
Illustrious Sir John Brockman and Divan
members. The dinner by Canadian
Honker was very enjoyable and the
entertainment was excellent. We even
found out that Illustrious Sir John is a
"ROCK STAR"! He was picked out of
the crowd by a specialized star-seeking
guitar. What a magnificent job he did on
stage.
I was
very
honored to
be selected
Nomads
The Nomads are just
beginning their second
year of operation. We’re
the newly re-instated
club designed to bring
new Osman Shriners and
their Ladies into a social
club situation and give
them opportunities to
Bob Golder participate in the fund
raising activities of Osman Shrine. We
further plan to present programs that will
let our members know about the events
and activities of other Clubs and Units.
All new Osman Shriners are
automatically considered to be members of
the Nomads. First-year dues are free to
these new members and are minimal to
other members of Osman Shrine.
The January meeting of the Nomads
will be on Thursday, January 12 at Angelo’s
Pizza, 1203 Southview Boulevard, South
St. Paul. We’ll start with a social hour at
6:00 PM, ordering food from the menu.
We’ll follow at 7:00 PM with the meeting
and will be done by 8:00 PM. All Osman
Nobles (new or old) and their Ladies are
welcome, so make plans to attend!
At the December meeting Captain of
the Guard Anders Haugen installed the
newly elected officers for 2012 (Bob
Golder, President; Mike Werth, Vice
President; Joe Kivens, Secretary Treasurer).
Circus Manager John Davenport gave a
presentation about the 2012 Osman Shrine
Circus and how the Nomads can be part of
the event.
For January, we have invited Anders
Haugen to return and give a short talk
about the Provost Unit, of which he was
Captain in 2011.
“Nomads” shirts are available and can be
ordered through Doreen at the Osman
Shrine office. All Nobles attending the
meetings receive our Nomads membership
card.
Directors Staff
The holiday season is behind us, and
the year 2012 is beginning. I hope
everybody will have a healthy and
prosperous New Year. By the time you
read this, our holiday party will be a
memory. We were honored to have our
new Potentate, Illustrious Sir Frank
Spevak and Lady Joan, join us as our
guests. Past Potentate and members of the
Divan also joined us.
Our new Officers for 2012 were
elected at our November dinner meeting.
Do you remember that special person who
made a difference in your life? The person who
took the time to ask your name, introduce you
around or show you the ropes? If we’re lucky, we
have one person in our lives who made a
positive impact personally or professionally.
Being a Virtual Mentor is your opportunity
to make the same difference in the life of a man
on his way to becoming a Master Mason and
Shriner. All it takes is willingness, enthusiasm and time.
As a Virtual Mentor, you will be paired with a Candidate with similar
interests in your area. Communicating by phone, e-mail or in person, you’ll
have the opportunity to share your knowledge and enthusiasm about Masonry
and about being a Shriner. You’ll answer questions or concerns, help find the
right Lodge best suited to the Candidate’s interests, and help him with his
journey to becoming a Shriner. You will also have the opportunity to make a
new friend. Find out more at www.shrinersvillage.com
This year’s theme for our Tournament
of Roses Parade float is “Soaring for Kids”.
It is an airplane with two animated bears
flying and other barnyard animals in the
sky. On this year’s float, we are telling the
world about our burns mission in child
care. Riding on the float with the Imperial
Potentate and myself will be our burn
child ambassador Kate Hickman.
3rd Party Pay - and now 1st Party
Pay
We now have 19 of our 20 U.S.
hospitals set up and billing 3rd Party Pay.
Our 20th Hospital, Erie is on pause
until they finalize their status as an
“Ambulatory Shriners Hospital."
Each Hospital now has their Medicare
numbers and all but five of our hospitals
have their Medicaid numbers from the
states.
The receiving of these medical provider
numbers has continued to be a
monumental task.
We are also continuing to establish the
numerous Managed Care Contracts with
the over 450 insurance providers, and are
in the final stages of negotiations with 79
of the larger care providers.
So far this year, we have over $57
million new dollars from the operations
and procedures we provide to our
children.
Imperial Sir Al’s Revenue Cycle Group
is now projecting that, as we continue to
get more of our procedures set up for
billing like the physician fees,
anesthesiology, pharmacy, etc., we should
expect to receive around $100 million in
2012. This is new monies from the
insurance companies, and will help to
narrow that gap between our normal
revenues and normal expenses.
1st Party Pay, the new legislation that
was passed at the Denver Imperial
Session, is continuing to be crafted.
As of this moment, the 1st party pay's
formal policy has not been put into effect
at any of our hospitals.
The primary purpose of this change to
our by-laws and articles of incorporation,
was to be able to become an in-network
provider of children’s healthcare. This will
allow us to receive referrals from the
pediatric primary care physicians in the
country.
How many times have you heard the
comment that Shriners Hospitals for
Children is the Best kept secret? By being
an in-network provider, we will become
an approved provider and hopefully stop
being a secret.
Since we have left Denver, I have heard
the concerns expressed by some of our
membership. The primary frustrations are
that the new 1st legislation could be
harmful to our mission. As was stated in
Denver during the Chairman’s state of the
hospital message:
As your Chairman, I promise to you,
• That our primary mission of helping
the children.
• who have no other place to go for the
excellent quality care that we provide
• will always be first in line at Shriner’s
Hospitals for Children.
I assure you, the Revenue Cycle
Committee is very aware of your concerns
about the policies and procedures that are
being considered for the co-pays and
deductibles legislation. They are very
aware of your angst about the possibility
of one our commercially insured families
being charged a large sum for their
deductible, due to the family having an
extremely large deductible on their
commercial insurance policy. Many ideas
are being considered to keep this from
happening. Please remember: our families
with commercial insurance are only about
33% of those who come to Shriners.
If one of our Shrine families has an
income of less than $120,000 (which is
four times the federally established
poverty level of $30,000) they are eligible
for Shriner's charity care.
The Committee is considering similar
criteria of family income of less than
$120,000 as a threshold for being exempt
from the 1st party pay (co-pay/
deductibles) requirements. This would be
for families who have commercial
insurance (the 33%), but are
underinsured.
For the other 67% of our children,
those with no insurance and those with
Medicaid, the co-pay/ deductible concerns
don’t apply.
Imperial Sir Al’s Committee feels the
soft approach of this new procedure being
crafted will be considered acceptable by
our nobility.
They feel it will
meet the intent
of legislation
passed in
Denver while
still best
preserving our
mission of
Shriners
Hospitals for
Children.
The
Committee will
be taking the
next 90-120
days to vet these
Doug Maxwell
Chairman of the Board
of Trustees, Shriners
Hospitals for Children
ideas before they arrive at what is the best
path for Shriners Hospitals to take.
And finally…
The other part of our 3-5 year path for
the balancing-the-budget equation,
Imperial Sir Raoul’s Strategic Task Force.
Making our hospitals more efficient.
We are encouraging everyone who
attends, to contribute their thoughts on
how we can get our financial house in
order. Those who aren’t able to attend are
given a toll free number to dial in.
Since the Session in Denver, the
committee has met at 4 hospitals:
Minneapolis, Galveston, Houston, and
Northern California (Sacramento).
In late October in Sacramento, the
Committee had discussions with two of
our Western hospitals. On the first day,
the committee had a very interactive and
full discussion with the Board of
Governors and Senior Staff of our N.
Calif. Hospital, on their ideas associated
with further affiliations and interactions
with our medical partner across the street,
the University of California/Davis.
On the second day, the committee met
with the Chairman and Vice-Chairman of
the Salt Lake City hospital and their
senior staff on their proposals to lower
their draw on the endowment.
Two days later, the committee moved
to Chicago for Imperial Sir Mike’s Fall
Board meeting. This afforded the entire
Joint Boards the opportunity to hear the
next two presentations, one from St. Louis
and one from Cincinnati.
On that Sunday morning, the Leaders
of our St. Louis Hospital made an
excellent presentation and proposal to
move from their full service hospital in
the county, to a new Ambulatory Clinic
P a g e 2 4 J a n u a r y 2 0 1 2
Hospital model on the Barnes/Jewish/
Children’s Medical Campus in Central St.
Louis, next to the Washington University
Medical School campus where our doctors
are on the faculty. (The In-patient care
will be provided by Shriner doctors at the
full service St. Louis Children’s Hospital)
Why is that good for our in-patient
children?
• It affords our children immediate
access to advanced imaging like CAT
scans and MRI’s, etc.
• Our children would have immediate
access to the other pediatric subspecialists,
that can become very
important during a complicated
operation, and
• It affords our children quick access to
all emergency medical equipment if
the need should arise due to unknown
complications.
The Boards voted unanimously to
accept this excellent St. Louis proposal
and authorized the acquisition of a design
team architect to move the project
forward.
The second presentation that morning
came from the Leadership of the
Cincinnati Hospital, who came forward
with their thoughts. Their ideas relate to
a better utilization of the space within
their hospital structure, by increasing
their affiliated interactive roles with their
on campus partners. Our Cincinnati
Hospital is on a large medical campus in
mid-town with the University of
Cincinnati Hospital and Medical School
and the Cincinnati Children’s hospital.
Since then, our hospital has been
having very productive sessions with Bay
State on their utilization of our unused
spaces within the building.
Another interesting concept that has
come forth from the meetings at the
Houston and Galveston hospitals relates
to possible donations and gifts given to a
specific location, with the promise to the
giver that his money will stay there. A
suggestion to be explored was possibly
either a local endowment fund or a
Legacy Fund. These ideas will continue to
be vetted.
Some General Thoughts from the
Committee…
The Task Force has now spent a year
exploring various options to make our 22
hospitals and headquarters more efficient
and with a substantially less draw on the
endowment.
A couple of quotes from the
committee:
We are appropriately staffed in our
hospitals for our in-efficiencies…
You never really change things by
fighting the existing reality. To change
something, you build a new better model
that makes the existing model obsolete.
As each of these new ideas with our
affiliated partners” are proposed, it takes
time to:
• first, determine if it will really have the
cost effect we are seeking;
• will it be good for both organizations;
• and then, finally, it needs to have all of
the details vetted out. For these
reasons, this re-organization plan, to be
successful, needs to be considered as a
3-5 year event.
We are beginning to move the ball
down the field.
And in Conclusion… for Colorado
Members
On Thursday at the Denver Session,
during the discussion for the legislation for
Item 40 on the call relating to two excused
absences before losing one’s Colorado
membership, it was accepted that there
would be a fair review by the Chairman,
given to requests by members for an excused
absence.
If you feel you would have an excused
absence for a missed session that would be
accepted by your fellow Brothers, and you
desire to be considered as an on-going
Colorado Member, please send your request
to this e-mail address:
COBBT@shrinenet.org for consideration.
Since the Labor Day message I have
received 8 such requests, which have been
accepted, and those Past Potentates are
being re-invited to attend the 138th
Imperial Session in Charlotte as a returning
Colorado member. ■
Marjorie. Her definition of Marjorie as a
“giving” person was G –
generous, I – innovative, V –
ideas, and G – gentle guide.
Everyone agreed this
was a perfect
description of
Marjorie Park!!
Thank you Marjorie,
you are one fabulous
lady!
The Auxiliary
also gave two service awards for
dedicated service to the Shriners
Once again, the
Osman Nobles have
been extremely
generous by donating
over $7,000.00 to the
Osman Auxiliary. The
St. Cloud Auxiliary
donated $1,500.00 to
the General Auxiliary
With an annual
wheelchair budget of
$300,000.00, your gifts go a long way in
helping provide these wheelchairs, free of
charge, to the children at Shriners
you do year round to support us. To
quote our Illustrious Sir Frank Spevak, the
Shriners Hospitals for Children® – Twin Cities
Collecting Co-Payments and Deductibles -
QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
If I have any questions about
medical insurance or payment
concerns, what should I do?
Please call us directly with your questions
or concerns. We have options to support
families in need. Call 612-596-6112, or
email jcarns@shrinenet.org and we will
respond to your question or concern.
Why are you now collecting co-pays
and deductibles?
Insurance companies are requiring that
Shriners Hospitals for Children inform
you of any co-pays, deductible and coinsurance.
I cannot afford this appointment.
Should I cancel?
No, our primary focus is to ensure
you/your child received the care needed.
We have options available to assist you.
We have a Waiver Form that you can fill
out to ensure your child receives care here
without financial hardship.
Can Shriners give me a discount on
the amount I owe?
We have options available to assist you.
We have a Waiver Form that you can fill
out to ensure your child receives care here
without financial hardship.
When is the deductible and copay
due?
We will send you a statement once your
insurance company has processed your
claim and once they let us know your
exact patient responsibility.
May I make my payment at the
Hospital?
Payments to Shriners Hospitals are made
to our post office box listed on the billing
statement. Payments cannot be accepted
at the Hospital.
What if I do not pay my copay and
deductible?
Your financial ability to pay will not affect
your care at Shriners Hospitals.
My insurance denied the charges
you submitted. Does this mean I
must pay them?
No. If charges are denied, Shriners
Hospital does not seek any further
payment.
I received a check from my insurance
company. What should I do with it?
You should sign the back of the check
with all names listed as the payee. Write
under the signature(s), Pay to the Order
of Shriners Hospitals for Children.
Happy New Year!
First of all, thank
you to outgoing
Potentate John
Brockman (and, his
Lady Audrey) for all the
courtesies you have
extended to the Ladies
of Mat-Sha Temple No.
62 this past year. Your
dedication to the
The Ladies from Mat-Sha Temple at our
Christmas Gathering in December.
Endowment Fund. Thank you to all the
Ladies and Guests who attended, as well as
those who mailed in unexpected donations
– it is much appreciated.
In the words of Supreme Queen Laura
Richardson, Daughters of the Nile is “… a
Sisterhood of capable, confident, and
positive women who live their lives serving
others while offering support to one
another.” Not only this, but we make a
difference in the lives of children –
specifically the children at
the Shriners Hospitals. If
this is the type of group
of Ladies you might be
interested in joining – or,
if you know someone you
would like to recommend
– please contact Princess
Recorder Gooch Krastins
at (952)432-5829. We
are open to all women, 18
Children – Twin Cities.
With the close of 2011 and the
new beginnings of 2012, I have
taken stock of all the treasures God
has blessed me with. I am so
thankful for good health and my amazing
family. I also treasure my membership in
Daughters of the Nile, the wonderful
Ladies of Mat-Sha Temple No. 62 and the
lessons I have learned through our
beautiful ritualistic work. May we all give
thanks in 2012 for the treasures we have
been given!
