I am so tired of
getting asked, "Is it hot
enough for you"? So I
won't ask. But I do
hope you are enjoying
the summer.
I want to thank-you
all for coming to the
style show and
supporting our Temple
and Princess Royal
Sara. And The
Teddy Bear Picnic
was a lot of fun.
At our
September 15th
Session, we will be
honoring our past
Queens. We will
also celebrate The
Queen's birthday,
which fell by the
wayside with all
the excitement
about the
Ceremonial and
meeting our new
Princesses on
June 2.
Don't forget, we
will be having a spaghetti dinner this fall.
For those of you who have never
attended our Supreme Session, I thought
I would share some highlights with you.
Attending Supreme Session in
Portland, Oregon, was very inspiring and
lots of fun. Every minute was filled with
meetings, luncheons, dinners, and
entertainment. We learned that our
membership was down to 28,602
members with 143 temples. On the
positive side, we had two workshops on
increasing membership and participation.
We came away with many good ideas.
Since 1924 Daughters of The Nile has
given over $50 million dollars to Shrine
Hospitals for Children. We are the single
largest donor to the Hospitals. This year
the total amount donated was
$2,493,867.11, which includes volunteer
hours and donated clothing, quilts, toys,

Larson escorting our Queen Judy Moon.
Supreme Queen Suzie Schumacher made a dramatic
entrance in her gold lamé gown.
games and books. And the amount of
cash given to the Hospitals was over $1.5
million. The evening Unit performances
were wonderful. We have to form one of
our own. And the Installation was a
spectacle to behold. Our new Supreme
Queen is Suzy Schumacher and her fun
emblem is the stiletto shoe. The Queens
in the subordinate temples are ”Suzie’s
Girls: The String of Pearls.” As a
fundraiser, our Temple is
making and selling shoe
bags. All proceeds will be
given to the Foundation
to support the children of
Shriners Hospital.
We were given four
Supreme appointments:

What an experience!
I truly was treated like a Queen. There
was always a chair with my number on
it. And the Queens had the best seats in
the house. I had two wonderful
attendants, Jane Larson and Dawn
Hurd, who kept me on time and in the
correct clothes. And thank-you to Pr.
Royal Sara Malewitz, for keeping me
together with my crown and scooter,
and supplied with candy kisses. PQs
Heather Lambert and Gooch Krastins-
McKinnon also made it fun.
A special thank you, members, for
my beautiful corsage and helping with
expenses for me to attend. It was an
amazing time and one that I will never
forget.
