Twenty-one LOH and
Ladies went on a
Riverboat dinner Cruise
in St Paul for their July
meeting. It was fun and
good to have a casual
meeting.
The LOH has carried
colors in the South St
Paul Parade, Lakeville’s
Pan-O Prog, Mendota Parade, White Bear
Ave parade, and Hastings, River Town Days
parade! Thanks to all the LOH members
who have stepped up and supported these
parades. We also entered the LOH Jeep in
the car show and cruise. It was a great time
driving the Jeep at Elko Speedway behind
the pace car! Thanks to Jim Smeby for
helping us accomplish this.
We have quoted light jackets, polo’s and
hats. We need to understand the number of
members who need or want new hats, new
polo’s and new light jackets before we commit funds. Please get in
touch with me to advise.
The LOH remaining parades are;
MSA parades, Thursday, and Saturday. Vice Commander Jim
Moore will take his truck to MSA and carry the flags for these
parades.
Kenyon Rose Fest Parade, August 19th, 4pm, after the St Paul
Park am parade!
Our August meeting will be moved to Tuesday, Aug 21st to
Chanters
Where does time go! We have made it through the 4th of July
and now on to the rest of the summer. The Lakeville Parade was
a big success, with large crowds on the street watching. They were
four-deep in some locations, and everyone seemed glad to see us.
It was nice to hear comments such as “we love you and the work
you do.” The White Bear Avenue Parade was good too, with lots
of spectators. For both parades, we used some new music on our
float. The Star Spangled Banner seemed especially well received.
Next we participated in the Ceremonial on July 28th. That
evening, the Potentates Gala was a grand affair. Everybody
looked just great, with some in costume and some in tuxedo.
Our next Parade is in St. Paul Park on August 18. We look
forward to being there.
We are not going to compete at the M.S.A. this year. We
need more voices – interested? Call Dean Strand at 651-770-
Moore at the Lakeville Parade.
attend the Osman St Paul Saints game. Meeting will be informal
with fun at the game the primary goal! Hope to see everyone at
the River Boat and the St Paul Saints game!
Remaining meetings planned are;
Sept 20th at the Spur (closes in late Sept, last visit this year),
Oct 18th at Dakota Lodge in Hastings, catered dinner by
Dakota Lodge, nominating committee for 2013 officers.
November 15th at Mendota VFW, (elections)
December ( TBA), Mancini’s Holiday party (installation 2013
officers)
The Legion of Honor continues to look for good men to carry
the colors for Osman. This year the LOH hopes to do 10
parades, (including 2 MSA parades), 7 Osman and 3 LOH
parades. You don’t have to be a veteran to participate. We can
teach anyone the basics of what we do. You don’t have to be a
veteran, to help honor your country, and Osman Shrine.
Feel free to contact me, or any of the other members or
Officers, if you might be interested.
