Pote’s Notes
Honoring Tradition -
Moving Forward
Boy, nothing like summer in Minnesota. It is
really hot. "How hot is it, Frank?" It's so hot
that the trees are creeping around looking for
shade. (rimshot) The temperature here isn’t
much different than Charlotte, NC, when we
were at the Annual Session of Shriners
International, sometimes called the Imperial
Session. Speaking of the Imperial, you should
be aware of 4 things. The first is that an
investigation took place into the financial
activities at the Annual Session in Denver, 2011,
and that Imperial Potentate Mike Severe was
reprimanded for his involvement. Second,
lengthy discussions took place
on the situation in Arkansas.
The new Imperial Potentate Al
Madsen will lead a delegation
to Arkansas to see if the rift
between the Grand Master
and the Shrine can be worked
out. Third, legislation was
passed to allow wives and
children to take part in
parades as long as they are
walkers or passengers in
vehicles with no less than 4
wheels and have the
permission of the Potentate.
The fourth item is of a
happier note. At the Annual
meeting of Osman Shrine, the
members vote for four
representatives to attend the
Imperial. For Osman that usually means the
top four elected officers including the Potentate.
When our time on the Divan is complete, a Past
Potentate may continue to attend the Annual
Session at their cost and have a vote on Hospital
matters. Osman is fortunate to have several Past
Potentates who have continued to serve Osman
at their own expense. When someone has
attended 15 Annual Sessions in a row, they are
eligible for Emeritus status that exempts them
Until this year, we had only
one emeritus member, PP John
Perkins. This year, another
Emeritus member for Osman was
granted. The recipient was PP
Jerry Plachecki. We were able to
hold a small dinner congratulating
Jerry at a restaurant nearby our hotel
in Charlotte. Osman is very proud of all
the Past Potentates that are able to continue
supporting the Hospital at the Annual
Session and we are especially proud of Jerry
for his achievement. Thank you Jerry for all
your time, talent, spirit and means.
As you read this we will be at the Gala.
Many hours were spent
working on the table
favors and decorations by
Joan and a number of
Ladies. We hope that
everyone that attended
had a great time. Joan
and I are very thankful
that our families were able
to attend. Joan’s mother
is a regular at Osman
events but always glad
when she can be here. In
addition to our children
Kate, Mari and Frank, I
had my father, Frank
from Cleveland, my aunt
Joan also from Cleveland,
my uncle John from
California, my aunt
Evelyn and my brother Ed and my sister-inlaw
Mary, they are from St. Louis, also
attend. The last time we had a mini family
reunion was at my brother’s wedding to
Mary about 2 ½ years ago.
I want to thank everyone that helped
clean up the barn. We
started at 9 AM and
by 9:45 the 30-yard
dumpster was almost
full. We were able to
fit in a few smaller items to top it
off. We will hold another clean-up
in the fall with another dumpster.
Still lots of extremely old, broken down
stuff that needs to be taken care of.
The barn looks great and we should
have a terrific time at the picnic. We
have prizes, a jumping ride for the kids
and a dunk tank. You can buy chances to
Dunk the Divan or Float the Pote. Proceeds will
go to Transportation and Aid. Games, hot dogs,
hamburgers, watermelon, popcorn, soda, beer,
and water will be provided. Remember to bring a
dish to share.
Anders Haugen has planned a terrific evening
at the St. Paul Saints game on Tuesday, August
21. TRAIN! We will have food and tickets for
the game. Send a note into the office to reserve
your spot. TRAIN! Remember that if you bring
a prospect to the event, not only are they our
guest but you will be too.
The trip details to Boston and Maine,
September 27 to October 1, have been finalized
and you will find the information on the trip on
page 5 in this Osman. It is a little early for a fall
color trip but from the latest news reports,
because of the drought conditions that have
persisted, the colors may be much earlier than
usual. We are looking forward to a great time.
Reservations need to be in by August 27.
Lastly, thank you to everyone that participates
in parades. You are representing Osman and the
Shrine to the outside world; letting them know
that we are still here to both entertain and to
support the “World’s Greatest Philanthropy.”
And a very special thank you to all the ladies.
Whether you stay home with the kids letting your
Shriner participate or whether you are able to
attend the parades. It is always great to know that
you are with us.
Summary of Imperial 2012
by Frank Spevak
The 2012 Annual Meeting of Shriners
International, commonly referred to as
Imperial, was held in Charlotte, NC July
1 – 5. Osman had a number of delegates,
your elected representatives to Shriners
International and Shriners Hospital for
Children, as well as Past Potentates who
are still eligible to vote on Shriners
Hospital related legislation.
Imperial Potentate Michael G. Severe
presents a charter to members of Agila
Shriners in the Philippines during the
2012 Imperial Session in Charlotte, NC.
New Philippines Shrine Center
The business meetings began at 8:30
Monday morning and started with the
vote on the newest Shrine Center, Agila
Shrine in Mindanao, Philippines. Agila
received a unanimous vote to be the
195th Shrine in the world. “The interest
our fraternity has received in other
countries has been wonderful to see,” said
Past Imperial Potentate Nick Thomas,
chairman of the international
development committee. “Our
international brothers are an integral part
of our future and we look forward to this
trend continuing in the years to come.”
Financial and Legal Activities
Following the introduction of Agila, a
report was delivered by Imperial Sir Jim
Cain. His report was the result of an
investigation into the financial and legal
activities surrounding the 2011 Annual
Meeting held in Denver. The 90 minute
report detailed how the Annual Meeting
lost more than $750,000 dollars and the
circumstances related to the purchase of a
2011 Harley Davidson Motorcycle and an
Imperial Potentate’s pin. The committee
recommended that Imperial Sir Michael
G. Severe be reprimanded for his actions
related to the Annual Session. The
recommendation was moved, seconded
and passed.
Later in the session, a resolution was
drafted to form a committee to investigate
all financial matters related to Shriners
International and Shriners Hospital for
Children for the past 5 years and report
its findings at the Annual Meeting in
Indianapolis, June 30th to July 4th, 2013.
Imperial Elections
As Imperial Sir Gene Bracewell was
not going to run again for Imperial
Treasurer, Illustrious Sir Jim McConnell
from Kem Shrine ran for office. At nearly
the last minute, Imperial Sir Ralph Semb
entered the race. Jim was elected by
almost a 3 to 1 margin. For Imperial
Outer Guard,
Illustrious Sir
Bill Bailey from Orak Shrine in
Indiana was elected by a 2 to 1
margin. For Chairman of the
Board of Trustees for Shriners
Hospital for Children, Imp Sir
Mike Severe ran against sitting
Chair Imp Sir Doug Maxwell.
Maxwell was elected by almost 4 to
1. Later in the session, in a very
unusual move, Emeritus Trustee
Brandt Bede ran for the position of
Junior Past Imperial Potentate
against Imp Sir Mike Severe. It is
tradition that the immediate Past Imperial
Potentate continue on the Hospital Board
but the overall sentiment at the Annual
Session seemed against Imperial Sir
Severe. Illustrious Sir Bede was elected by
almost 4 to 1 margin.
Arkansas Grand Master
At the June Stated Meeting of Osman I
reported that one of the items brought
forward for legislation was the exemption
of Arkansas from the prerequisite of being
a Mason before being a Shriner. This was
brought up because the Grand Master of
Arkansas has been expelling from the
Grand Lodge of Arkansas any Mason who
is participating in any activity whatsoever
related to either of the Shrine Centers in
Arkansas. These expulsions are given
without trial or right of
appeal. After lengthy
discussions for and against,
it was decided to table the
legislation. The reason for
tabling the legislation was
that Imperial Potentate Al
Madsen was able to
confirm that he would
lead a delegation to
Arkansas and meet
with the Grand Master
and Grand Secretary
of Arkansas. The
Mentoring: Ensuring a Stronger Organization
By Imperial Sir Gary Bergenske
Do you remember a special person
who made a difference in your life? The
person who took time to ask your name,
introduce you around or show you the
ropes? If we’re lucky, we have at least one
person in our lives who truly took an
interest and made a positive difference,
personally or professionally.
That’s what mentoring is all about,
taking the time to help someone learn,
gain knowledge and offer an
opportunity to succeed. Just as
mentoring can build confidence and
character in individuals, it can also
impact organizations by preparing the
next generation of leaders and ensuring
the transfer of knowledge.
So how does this apply to Shriners
International? Many organizations have
mentoring programs, including Fortune
500 companies, the federal government
and school systems, to name a few. They
do this to ensure they build an
organization of quality people who love
what they do, and do what they love.
Some call it coaching or training, but
mentoring of others goes back thousands
Hang out with your family - and
Shriners - every third Sunday
The next event will be Sunday,
August 19th. All interested Nobles,
Ladies, children, friends and
family are invited to golf 9
of years. It builds and develops
organizations’ most valuable asset — its
people — in our case, our Nobility.
Why is Shrine mentoring so
important? Committed mentors can
take Shriners International to the next
level by educating, developing and
exciting our members, and by attracting
and retaining our future leaders. Having
a successful mentoring program is an
important component to accomplishing
membership development and retention
goals.
I always like to think of having our
members become “Career Shriners,”
where they enjoy their association with
our organization and realize—
personally and professionally— their
full potential. If they are made to feel
welcome and given the opportunity to
get involved in our organization, they
will be happy and we will have more
members who never leave us. How do
we guarantee this happens? Simple, we
make a concerted effort to make sure
every new member has a mentor for his
first year to make sure he becomes
involved and his expectations are met.
about visiting your Blue Lodge
or other Masonic
Through beashrinernow.com, we
have created the foundation for a
mentoring network. Here, virtual
mentors work with interested
candidates to learn more about Shriners
International and Freemasonry. These
mentors are active Shriners and Masons
and they answer questions, provide
guidance and introduce candidates and
their families to local Lodges or
Temples. We call them virtual mentors
because they first meet online. If the
candidate wishes, they can meet in
person, chat by phone, or continue
communicating online.
We are looking for more dedicated
Shriners to join our virtual mentors and
their mission to help grow the fraternity
and guide our future leaders. Go to
www.shrinersvillage.com and sign up as
a virtual mentor for your temple. We
need your talents to assist us in
communicating, motivating, counseling
and exciting our new members to
become “Career Shriners.” If we can do
that, they will become involved forever.
Let’s do it! I BELIEVE we can.
Enabling Access to Medical
Services
The Care Coordination Department
at Shriners Hospital Twin Cities
provides support and assistance to
families who may qualify for benefits
under various state and federal health
programs. This service enables access to
medical services provided by other
qualified medical providers including
Shriners Hospitals.
And now, Shriners Hospitals for
Children® – Twin Cities has become a
participating provider for State
Medicaid programs that cover children
in our service area. The Hospital has
enrolled in the Minnesota, South
Dakota, North Dakota, Iowa, Nebraska,
Wisconsin and Michigan Medicaid
plans.
The Patient Application is
Eliminated
At the Imperial Session in July,
legislation was passed to eliminate the
Men’s Suits/Tuxes/Blazers/Sports Coats
Hospital Update
traditional patient
application for care at
Shriners Hospitals.
Families can now contact
any Shriners Hospital
directly and with very
basic information, we can immediately
schedule needed services.
While the application has been
eliminated, we encourage any form of
contact from families interested in
seeking care - telephone, email, fax or
personal visit. And we continue to
encourage all of our Shriner and
community friends to help us reach
those in need. Our goal remains to
provide easy and quick access to great
medical service.
Special Appointment:
Shriners Medical Director
At the recent Imperial Session, the
Board of Directors and Board of
Trustees announced the appointment of
Dr. Kenneth J. Guidera, Chief of Staff –
Twin Cities, to serve as the Interim
Medical Director for the entire Shriners
Hospital system. In this role, Dr.
Guidera, supported by a Physician
Executive Team, will provide guidance
and expertise to the future of the 22
Shriners Hospitals while continuing his
clinical practice at the Twin Cities
Hospital. The Joint Boards intend to
establish a permanent appointment in
the coming months. We congratulate
Dr. Guidera on his appointment and
the recognition it represents of all of his
previous successes.
Cross Country Biking at its
Finest
Jerry Smith, a Shriner from Newton,
Kansas and his wife, Shirley, embarked
upon a great adventure – a cross
country ride on a tandem bicycle to
raise money and awareness for their
favorite charity: Shriners Hospitals for
Children®.
Jerry, 72, and Shirley (ageless) are on
what cyclists have dubbed the “northern
tier” route through the United States
and are traveling from Anacortes,
Washington to the coast of Maine.
On June 19th they took a detour to
visit the Twin Cities hospital. The
mission of Shriners Hospitals for
Children is incredibly personal to Jerry,
as he is a former patient.
Born in 1939 in Savannah, Georgia,
Jerry and Shirley Smith took a detour on
their cross country bike trip to visit
Shriners Hospital for Children-Twin Cities.
They’re shown here with Admistrator
Charlie Lobeck and Chief of Staff Ken
Guidera.
Jerry was disabled from birth. He spent
the first half of his early life at the
Greenville hospital having eight
operations and going to school in his
bed or in a wheelchair. "Without
Shriners Hospitals for Children, I
would not be walking or cycling."
the end of the meeting
to hear Potentate Frank address us as to
The 4th of July is over! It was a
grueling day with three parades, all over
2 miles in length. The heat index was
over 100 degrees, and the water and ice
dwindled quickly. Chang was extremely
popular. Parade-goers all wanted Chang
to sneeze on them as they looked for
any way to get cooled off.
meeting. It was fun and
good to have a casual
parade! Thanks to all the LOH members
who have stepped up and supported these
parades. We also entered the LOH Jeep in
the car show and cruise. It was a great time
driving the Jeep at Elko Speedway behind
the pace car! Thanks to Jim Smeby for
helping us accomplish this.
We have quoted light jackets, polo’s and
hats. We need to understand the number of
members who need or want new hats, new
polo’s and new light jackets before we commit funds. Please get in
touch with me to advise.
The LOH remaining parades are;
MSA parades, Thursday, and Saturday. Vice Commander Jim
Moore will take his truck to MSA and carry the flags for these
parades.
Kenyon Rose Fest Parade, August 19th, 4pm, after the St Paul
Park am parade!
Our August meeting will be moved to Tuesday, Aug 21st to
Chanters
Where does time go! We have made it through the 4th of July
and now on to the rest of the summer. The Lakeville Parade was
a big success, with large crowds on the street watching. They were
four-deep in some locations, and everyone seemed glad to see us.
It was nice to hear comments such as “we love you and the work
you do.” The White Bear Avenue Parade was good too, with lots
of spectators. For both parades, we used some new music on our
float. The Star Spangled Banner seemed especially well received.
Next we participated in the Ceremonial on July 28th. That
evening, the Potentates Gala was a grand affair. Everybody
looked just great, with some in costume and some in tuxedo.
Our next Parade is in St. Paul Park on August 18. We look
forward to being there.
We are not going to compete at the M.S.A. this year. We
need more voices – interested? Call Dean Strand at 651-770-
Oct 18th at Dakota Lodge in Hastings, catered dinner by
Dakota Lodge, nominating committee for 2013 officers.
November 15th at Mendota VFW, (elections)
December ( TBA), Mancini’s Holiday party (installation 2013
The Legion of Honor continues to look for good men to carry
the colors for Osman. This year the LOH hopes to do 10
parades, (including 2 MSA parades), 7 Osman and 3 LOH
parades. You don’t have to be a veteran to participate. We can
teach anyone the basics of what we do. You don’t have to be a
veteran, to help honor your country, and Osman Shrine.
Mighty Mites
Always bear in mind
that your own resolution to
succeed is more important
than any other.
Abraham Lincoln
As you review this
quote by Abraham
Lincoln you can
Tim Gangnon understand why the
Mighty Mites have been
so successful this parade season. Not because
it is one individual driving our success but
rather because we as a group drive to make
each other successful when we parade, work
the circus or simply work for the greater
good of helping kids by keeping our hospitals
going strong.
This summer we have participated in new
parades and old. We have watched young
drivers improve to the point where they are
keeping up with the old drivers. All of this
has resulted in our unit getting better and of
course all of us having fun. So here is to the
Mighty Mites, (you too, Art) thanks for your
hard work and dedication, you are the best.
Alexandria Shrine Club and 4 Wheelers
The Alex Shrine Club met last month at
meetings at the Shrine building are potluck
good way to meet
great comments about the
Alexandria circus this year.
The performances were great and
thank you to all that helped work the
circus. The Shrine Club would like to
especially thank Ralph Berg and Bill
people that get together at a Shrine
know this already, but I think it is really
neat. Last year my daughter went to
California on a marching band trip and at
the parade on Coronado Island she met a
Shriner from the Al Bahr Shrine. He
came up to my daughter Amelia and she
acknowledged him as a Shriner. He asked
how she knew that and she said because of
the fez and told him that her dad is a
Shriner. They talked for a little while and
it left an impression on my daughter and
a big surprise to a fellow Shriner. How
did it happen that he came up to the one
child that has ties to the shrine?
Behind the Kart-riding, clowning and horn-tooting,
these Units are spreading the message of Shriners’
philanthropy: “We parade so they can walk.” There
are hundreds of parades throughout Minnesota and
surrounding states each summer, and through the
efforts of dozens of Shrine Units, many will have at
least one Shrine Unit participating. Check over the
list, and if you have a spare afternoon or evening,
come to a parade! Better yet, join a Unit so you can
participate!
Summary of Imperial 2012, Continued from page 4
Grand Master of Arkansas, who was rumored to be in
attendance, also agreed. Not sure if he should expel himself
given that he attended a Shrine event. We will report back to
you any actions taken by either party.
Families can ride in Parades
On a happier note, legislation was passed that allowed wives
and children to participate with the members of the Shrine in
civic parades with the permission of the Potentate. This means
basically riding along or marching with the Shrine. Family
members cannot drive maneuvering vehicles and ride in a
vehicle with nothing less than 4 wheels. As I get the final
wording from headquarters, I will be in contact with the
various Units and discuss their requirements.
Imperial 2013
As noted earlier, the 2013 Annual Session of Shriners
International is in Indianapolis. It is about 570 miles, a 10
hour drive to Indianapolis. Imperial is the largest assembly of
Shriners and is a lot of fun. Chief Rabban Don Harmsen is
investigating the cost of hotel rooms. You can get a glimpse of
what is in store by visiting www.imperial2013.com. Also keep
in mind that Imperial will be in Minneapolis in 2014.
Local cable show produced by
Osman Shriner wins national award.
At CTV North Suburbs, we produce a
local cable TV show called Disability
Viewpoints. Our show just won the top
national award in North America called "The
Hometown Video Award."
The show’s host, Mark Hughes is an
Osman Shriner.
We started Disability Viewpoints (the TV
show) in 1998 and we have received this top
honor 6 times total and 4 years in a row. We
Mark Hughes
entered the show in the professional category
and the topic of the show that won this year
dealt with showcasing new adaptive technologies for people living
with a disability.
One year we won this award for showcasing the Shriners
Hospital here in Minneapolis. We will be accepting the award in
August at the national convention in Chicago.
Dear Auxiliary Members and Friends of
the Auxiliary,
I hope you are all having a great
summer, and that you are staying cool with
all these hot days. I know that a number of
us have been enjoying the Sunday Fun
Days at the Lost Spur Event Center this
summer. It is always great to get together
with old friends and to meet new people.
I continue to be impressed with the
dedication and commitment to our Osman
Womens Auxiliary by some of our
Shriners. This month, I heard from
Charles Van House from Austin. He has
built a trailer to collect pop cans and pop
tabs which he will sell and donate the
money to the Osman Womens Auxiliary.
During my conversation with Charles, he
told me that he is very surprised at how fast
2012-2013 Patient Ambassadors
(l-r) Jérémy Gabriel and Hunter Woodall
Hunter Woodhall from Syracuse,
Utah, and Jérémy Gabriel from Quebec
City, Canada, have been selected as the
health care system’s Patient Ambassadors
for 2012-2013. The announcement was
made after the premiere of their video:
“Two Worlds Apart – One Place of Hope”
during the Imperial Session of Shriners
International (National Convention) in
Charlotte, N.C.
Every year, Shriners Hospitals for
Children® chooses two Patient
Ambassadors to represent the thousands
of children who receive care at the health
care system’s 22 facilities annually,
regardless of their ability to pay. The
Ambassadors will share their stories to
inspire others and raise awareness of
Shriners Hospitals for Children.
The Athlete
He plays basketball, football and
soccer; he wrestles; he runs track, snow
skis, swims and roller blades, all with two
prosthetic legs.
Hunter Woodhall, 13, was born with
fibular hemimelia of the left leg. The
condition is a shortening or absence of
one of the two bones in the calf, which
may require amputation or bonelengthening
procedures to correct. In
addition, his right ankle was fused.
The Woodhalls had a difficult time
finding information about Hunter’s
conditions. After exploring options that
offered no real hope, the Woodhalls
contacted Shriners Hospitals for Children.
After consulting with a team of experts
at the Tampa, Fla., facility, the Woodhalls
proceeded with the amputation of
Hunter’s feet. After his surgery – at just 11
months old – Hunter was soon walking
and running around. He hasn’t stopped
since.
Later, the Woodhalls moved to
Syracuse, Utah, where Hunter became a
patient of Shriners Hospitals for Children
– Salt Lake City. Hunter is a straight A
student and an accomplished athlete. The
team of experts at Shriners Hospitals for
Children – Salt Lake City has always
provided options to help Hunter be able
to do anything he wants to do, including
fitting him with some of the first Flex-
Foot Cheetah custom feet that the
hospital had ever provided, as well as
special liners for wrestling, in addition to
his prosthetic legs for daily use.
The Artist
He has sung for both Céline Dion and
the Pope; he has recorded two albums and
co-authored a book. He was born deaf.
Jérémy Gabriel, 15, was born
prematurely with severe facial
malformations and other complications
requiring intensive care. Jérémy was
finally diagnosed at 6 months with
Treacher Collins Syndrome, a rare genetic
disorder. In addition to head, skull and
facial deformities, children with this
condition generally have absent or
malformed ears, which can cause hearing
loss.
Jérémy was referred to Shriners
Hospitals for Children – Canada at the
age of 5 for treatment. There, the family
met Lucie Lessard, M.D., a plastic and
craniofacial surgeon. Dr. Lessard
suggested a BAHA (Bone Anchored
Hearing Aid) Implant. Jérémy received his
implant in June 2003, at age 6. After the
surgery, Jérémy was fascinated with
sound, and discovered he could sing. In
fact, he has perfect pitch. Jeremy is
scheduled for additional facial
reconstructive surgery later this year.
Jeremy now attends a high school
specializing in performing arts, where he
is an excellent student. He is preparing for
a career in the music business.
Judy Moon,
Queen
I am so tired of
getting asked, "Is it hot
enough for you"? So I
won't ask. But I do
hope you are enjoying
the summer.
I want to thank-you
all for coming to the
style show and
supporting our Temple
and Princess Royal
Sara. And The
Teddy Bear Picnic
was a lot of fun.
At our
September 15th
Session, we will be
honoring our past
Queens. We will
also celebrate The
Queen's birthday,
which fell by the
wayside with all
the excitement
about the
Ceremonial and
meeting our new
Princesses on
June 2.
Don't forget, we
will be having a spaghetti dinner this fall.
For those of you who have never
attended our Supreme Session, I thought
I would share some highlights with you.
Attending Supreme Session in
Portland, Oregon, was very inspiring and
lots of fun. Every minute was filled with
meetings, luncheons, dinners, and
entertainment. We learned that our
membership was down to 28,602
members with 143 temples. On the
positive side, we had two workshops on
increasing membership and participation.
We came away with many good ideas.
Since 1924 Daughters of The Nile has
given over $50 million dollars to Shrine
Hospitals for Children. We are the single
largest donor to the Hospitals. This year
the total amount donated was
$2,493,867.11, which includes volunteer
hours and donated clothing, quilts, toys,
Sara Malewitz carrying the banner; and Dawn Hurd and Jane
Larson escorting our Queen Judy Moon.
Supreme Queen Suzie Schumacher made a dramatic
entrance in her gold lamé gown.
games and books. And the amount of
cash given to the Hospitals was over $1.5
million. The evening Unit performances
were wonderful. We have to form one of
our own. And the Installation was a
spectacle to behold. Our new Supreme
Queen is Suzy Schumacher and her fun
emblem is the stiletto shoe. The Queens
in the subordinate temples are ”Suzie’s
Girls: The String of Pearls.” As a
fundraiser, our Temple is
making and selling shoe
bags. All proceeds will be
given to the Foundation
to support the children of
Shriners Hospital.
We were given four
Supreme appointments:
Jane Larson, Supreme
Goodwill Ambassador to
the Central Area; Lois
Purrington,
SupremeTemple Escort to
the American Flag;
Donna Erickson,
Supreme Escort to the
Canadian Flag; and
Gooch Krastins-
What an experience!
I truly was treated like a Queen. There
was always a chair with my number on
it. And the Queens had the best seats in
the house. I had two wonderful
attendants, Jane Larson and Dawn
Hurd, who kept me on time and in the
correct clothes. And thank-you to Pr.
Royal Sara Malewitz, for keeping me
together with my crown and scooter,
and supplied with candy kisses. PQs
Heather Lambert and Gooch Krastins-
McKinnon also made it fun.
A special thank you, members, for
my beautiful corsage and helping with
expenses for me to attend. It was an
amazing time and one that I will never
forget.
