Legion of Honor
The 2012 MSA was
great! Butch Schmit and
Jim Moore represented
the LOH at MSA this
year. They drove Noble
Moore’s truck with the
colors to lead Osman, at
the Thursday and
Rique Beslin Saturday parades.
Grand Forks was a
wonderful experience and everyone seemed
to enjoy the fun and fellowship. Noble
Moore had a very entertaining afternoon
on the Red River walk with fellow Shriners
from Abu Bekr from Sioux City Iowa. The
food/oasis/entertainment were all great.
Thanks to all the Potentate’s Aides and staff
who put a great amount of effort into
making Osman’s MSA experience
memorable.
We will have almost completed the
2012 Parade season by the time this
newsletter reaches you. We will have carried
colors and driven the Jeep at the St Paul
Park and Kenyon parades on Aug 18th.
The final parade of the season is Sept 29th
in River Falls. We would appreciate all of
the members to try and make this final
parade. Remember the LOH will continue
our tradition of celebrating the end of the
parade season at this parade. Be sure and be
there to help celebrate.
The LOH didn’t hold a formal August
meeting, rather we joined in to support
Osman at the St Paul Saints game. This
family fun event was also an opportunity to
recruit new members to both Osman as
well as LOH.
Our next meeting will be Sept.
20th at the Osman Event Center.
This is the last meeting at the
Spur due to the golf and snack
bar closing for the season. Agenda
will include choosing a
nominating committee for 2013
Officers.
The Oct. 18th meeting will be
held at Dakota Lodge #7 in
Hastings. 2103 Vermillion St. We
will have a catered meal brought
in for the members. Anyone who
brings a candidate for
Masonry/Shrine and especially
the LOH will get a free meal! Of
course the candidate will get his
meal free. We will need an
accurate count for food so please
RSVP your attendance by Oct.
15th. The nominating committee
will report on 2013 officer
nominations.
Reminder, we need to reserve
tables for the LOH for the Hufli Dinner on
Oct 29th! Get your reservations in to Jim
Smeby ASAP! Great opportunity to bring
a candidate for Osman and the LOH! Also
in Oct there is a Ceremonial at Garnet
Lodge on Oct 20th, and we will need to
bring colors!
Nov 13th is Club and Unit meeting. All
LOH members are encouraged to attend!
It’s not just for the Officers!
The November 15th meeting will be at
the Mendota VFW. We will hold our
Legion of Honor headed the Osman parade units at the St. Paul Park parade.

Our December Holiday Party is Dec
12th at Mancini’s, where we will continue
another LOH tradition of fun, great food,
and installation of our 2013 Officers. Don’t
miss this meeting either as it always a
wonderful evening.
As a reminder, we have quotes on light
jackets, polos and hats. We need to
understand the number of members who
need or want new hats, new polos and/or
new light jackets before we commit funds.

If you are new to Osman Shrine and
haven’t made a decision about a unit, please
attend any of the above functions and see
what the LOH is about. You don’t have to
be a veteran to belong to a unit that
supports Osman and the colors of this great
country we live in!
