Austin Area Shrine Club & Oriental Band
September brings the
end of the parade
season, and we will wind
down with our last
parade at Mantorville on
Sunday, September 9th.
Sure hope to see some of
the other Osman Units Neil Hanson
again.
We have enjoyed the
eighteen parades we have been involved in
this summer. The interaction of the
crowd, visiting with other Nobles and
Ladies when there had been an Oasis.
And, speaking of an Oasis, we would
Max Pecht II charms a snake.
certainly like to thank the
Cannon Valley Shrine Club
for their hospitality following
the parade in Kenyon on
Saturday, August 18th. What
a great time. THANK YOU
TO ALL WHO MADE IT
SUCCESSFUL!
The summer also brought
a new addition to Oriental
Band. We have acquired,
with the help of Osman
Shrine, an eighteen
passenger bus. This vehicle
will be used as our transport
and tow vehicle in parades.
Hopefully, we’ll also be able to use it for
other Shrine activities.
The bus was previously owned, and
required quite a bit of work (which is
ongoing). After several hours of sanding
and stripping of letters, it was ready for
paint. It was primed and painted. After
it was painted it was ready for the road,
and we learned that it had plenty of power
to handle the hills in SE
Minnesota. After proving
itself, it was Osmanized.
The bus is currently
continuing its
Osmanization. President
Max Pecht II formed a
committee that was
responsible for the
transformation and it
included Brad Stout,
Charles Van House, Dean
Johnson and Neil Hanson.
The Band Bus committee is well on it’s way to having the
band bus “Osmanized.”
Several other members of the band
assisted in the sanding, taping of windows
and trim, cleaning, etc. Dean Johnson is
our official photo man, and we thank him
for sharing.
The September meeting of the Shrine
Club / Oriental Band will be September
9th at George’s of Geneva. Details will be
provided by the calling committee.
