Well-prepared for tomorrow‘s challenge
Dieter Etzold – Managing Director
RUAG Aerospace Structures GmbH
We have done our homework. In all fields we have further improved our market position
and have continued to intensify our business relationships to our customers. Furthermore,
we have started a comprehensive process in our entire company to establish our
business culture “the best will learn from us” orientating on RUAG’s clear and long-term
vision: Creating confidence in our RUAG “brand” for customers, suppliers and employees.
Our structures and processes have made differences to our strategic priorities.
We have proven that it is essential to react flexibly, decidedly and quickly to changes. It is
still necessary to continue to develop established cycles to be on the top rung also in the
future. We have pushed major innovations and we are now concentrating on our core
competencies by adjusting the product range. Our research, design and development
departments have set standards.
At Oberpfaffenhoffen aerostructure has a tradition for several decades. The know-how
and the valuable experience of the employees are unpayable. “Aerostructures made at
RUAG at Oberpfaffenhofen” make us proud. This advantage in location does not exist
twice in Germany.
We want to advance our business culture. The diversity in our company requires a strong
cooperation with a clear understanding and actively lived values which offers orientation
and identification for the employees. Our vision to lead the “brand” RUAG requires a
clear performance of each individual in the company. On all levels an integrated communication
and a lived transparency will help us.
In order to fully utilize our business potential, we continue to concentrate on the consistent
lowering of the quality cost, the adjustment of structures and further measures for
increase in efficiency by innovative, trend-setting and economical production technologies.
We strongly focus on standardized workflow on all levels and functions. With the
organization of the global supply chain management process, we are even able to react
quicker on the increasingly international requirements.
Thanks to our customers for their confidence in our business and in the “brand” RUAG
and our technologies.
The challenge of the next years is our chance. We are very well prepared for the future.
We have a solid financial basis, we are well positioned on the market and have highly
motivated employees. We consistently continue our initiated processes to ensure the
requirement for the long-term success of our company and that also in the future “the
best will learn from us”.
Aircraft Life Extension – increasing cost effectiveness
To increase the Design Service Goal (DSG)
of the Airbus A320 family, a test program
for large components including e.g. a Full
Scale Fatigue Test (FSFT) has been developed.
The three test sections of the A320
with its forward fuselage (NEF1), center
Beside the assembly of large fuselage
structures, our competence encompasses
system integration depending on customer’s
requirements.
For the Airbus A320 family, we integrate
system components and electrical installation
into the rear fuselage section.
With the increasing use of technology in modern times, there is a growing requirement
to provide tailored customer support. In response to market needs, our task is to operate
a 24/7 AOG and spare parts service.
fuselage & wing (NEF2) and rear fuselage
are integrated into the testing environment.
Based on the results, a calculation follows
to ensure the required aircraft life extension
to be achieved. Thus, the mainte-
Production share on Airbus A320 family
Production share on CRJ 700/900/1000 series
nance program as well as flight cycles and
flight hours will be readjusted.
To the aircraft operators, RUAG Aerospace
Structures offers the complete support for
FSFT and the entire calculated verification.
