Yan Hong is not the happiest fellow around. That’s understandable,<br />
though, given that he’s one of the last surviving people of the nowextinct<br />
West Baiyue. His father, Yan Bo, was the West Baiyun<br />
chieftain during the Qin invasions and, sadly, died defending his<br />
country. Before Yan Hong could fall victim to a Qin blade, his uncle<br />
Yan Peng rescued him at the last second. For years they journeyed<br />
together, his uncle always on the lookout for new magic and artifacts.<br />
Naturally Yan Hong picked up a few things here and there. It was<br />
inevitable that he’d become a wizard as well when he came of age. His<br />
main talent lies in the mystical summoning of wild creatures, beasts,<br />
and the occasional demon (although his adopted master Lan Xiong<br />
frowns on that).<br />
As already mentioned, Yan Hong is generally dour and unhappy. He<br />
seems constantly disappointed with his life, as well as the world<br />
around him. The one thing that brings him true happiness is Lan Wei,<br />
the love of his life. Although he will never say it aloud, he sometimes<br />
thinks Fate destroyed his country solely to bring the two of them<br />
together, perhaps for even some greater purpose. He knows its wrong<br />
to think such a horrible thought, but nothing else in this world matters<br />
as much to him as Lan Wei. Luckily, her father, as strict as he is, long<br />
accepted Yan Hong’s place in his daughter’s life (though not without<br />
