The dos<strong>in</strong>g pr<strong>in</strong>ciple of preeflow ® dispenser is an endless<br />

piston dispenser.<br />

This special dos<strong>in</strong>g geometry allows an endless and pulsation<br />

free dos<strong>in</strong>g flow. The possibility of revers<strong>in</strong>g the dos<strong>in</strong>g flow<br />

(suckback) will prevent from dripp<strong>in</strong>g and leads to a perfect<br />

control of media str<strong>in</strong>g<strong>in</strong>g or dripp<strong>in</strong>g.<br />

Bond<strong>in</strong>g<br />

In the <strong>in</strong>dustrial world, the term of Bond<strong>in</strong>g refers to jo<strong>in</strong><br />

securely to someth<strong>in</strong>g else, especially by means of an adhesive<br />

or chemical substance, heat or pressure. In our case, any<br />

comb<strong>in</strong>ation of any type and roughness of materials could<br />

be jo<strong>in</strong>ed together through the application of adhesives. The<br />

bond<strong>in</strong>g therefore replaces more traditional technics such as<br />

Optical Bond<strong>in</strong>g<br />

Optical Bond<strong>in</strong>g is a process <strong>in</strong> which a clear adhesive is<br />

applied between the layers of glass <strong>in</strong> a touch screen display.<br />

The ma<strong>in</strong> goal of this bond<strong>in</strong>g process is to improve the<br />

performance of the display when outdoors. This procedure<br />

elim<strong>in</strong>ates the gap between the glass and the display. A great<br />

deal of importance is placed on dos<strong>in</strong>g precision <strong>in</strong> the field of<br />

smartphone and tablet manufactur<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> particular.


Conformal Coat<strong>in</strong>g<br />

A Conformal Coat<strong>in</strong>g is a protective coat<strong>in</strong>g which takes<br />

the form of a non-transparent or transparent varnish that is<br />

applied to all or parts of PCBs. The materials are usually high<br />

viscosity thermal or UV cur<strong>in</strong>g materials and are dosed onto<br />

the PCB us<strong>in</strong>g either a th<strong>in</strong> film or a thick film procedure.<br />

Dam & Fill<br />

In Dam & Fill applications, the primary aim is to protect<br />

highly complex assemblies. Firstly, a high viscosity barrier,<br />

known as the “Dam”, is applied to the surface to be sealed.<br />

Then the adjacent area is filled with a filler which provides<br />

protection and seal<strong>in</strong>g effect.<br />

Glob Top<br />

Glob Top pott<strong>in</strong>g is designed to protect sensitive components,<br />

usually semiconductor chips, from mechanical stress such as<br />

vibrations or fluctuations <strong>in</strong> temperature. External environmental<br />

factors too, like moisture or corrosion, are thus prevented<br />

from hav<strong>in</strong>g an impact on the potted components. This effect<br />

is realised by apply<strong>in</strong>g a fluid res<strong>in</strong> matrix, mostly an epoxy<br />

res<strong>in</strong> adhesive, which is then cured.<br />

Underfill applications usually are used with isotropic conductive<br />

adhesives. In this case, the isotropic conductive adhesive<br />

provides the electrical connection from the <strong>micro</strong>chip to the<br />

substrate. As this adhesive is not applied over the entire surface,<br />

after the thermally or UV cur<strong>in</strong>g process, another fill<strong>in</strong>g of the<br />

hollow space is necessary, the so called “Underfill”.<br />

Micro Dispens<strong>in</strong>g refers to the dos<strong>in</strong>g of fluid media <strong>in</strong><br />

volume of just a few <strong>micro</strong>litres. Other fields of application<br />

are, for example, bead dos<strong>in</strong>g, seal<strong>in</strong>g, dot dos<strong>in</strong>g, pott<strong>in</strong>g<br />

and 2 component applications. These applications <strong>in</strong> particular<br />

call for high levels of precision, repeat accuracy and reliability.<br />

Encapsulat<strong>in</strong>g<br />

Encapsulat<strong>in</strong>g is the process of apply<strong>in</strong>g a fluid seal<strong>in</strong>g<br />

compound to a small and def<strong>in</strong>e area on a component or on a<br />

surface. The seal<strong>in</strong>g compound protects the electrical<br />

component both <strong>in</strong> transports and from environmental <strong>in</strong>fluences<br />

such as vibration, shakes, humidity, dust and extreme<br />

temperature.<br />
