An ultrasonic measuring system comprises:<br />
• SIMATIC S7-<strong>300</strong> with CPU and power supply<br />
• The SM 338 ultrasonic position decoding module<br />
• 24 V external supply voltage<br />
• Ultrasonic position sensor(s)<br />
Ultrasonic position sensors with the following characteristics can<br />
be used:<br />
• START/STOP interface with RS 422 signals<br />
• One power supply for all sensors that are simultaneously<br />
connected to the SM 338 module: +/- 15 V / max. 200 mA<br />
floating or +24 V / max. <strong>300</strong> mA floating.<br />
For a sensor length of less than 3 m, the resolution is 0.05 mm.<br />
At the maximum sensor length of 6 m, the resolution is 0.1 mm.<br />
With more than one measuring point on a sensor, the sensorspecific<br />
minimum spacing must be complied with. This ensures<br />
that there is no mutual interference between the measuring<br />
points.<br />
