From Page 5 amount of people into sick, pathetic criminals with criminal records that can haunt them all of their lives. In effect, we become their enablers, and for what, the Almighty Dollar? We can do better than this! We must do better than this! It is always easier to go along to get along. We have absurd political parties that have helped destroy our country with this kind of thinking. Some one once phrased it, “Stinkin’ Thinkin’!” We have good promoters. Let’s tell them to book the kind of acts that attract the kind of people we want in Eagle County! Let’s use taxpayer land for events that promote our recreational opportunities and encourage the kind of people to come back again and again. Some one told us that entertainment headliner Snoop Dog must have used the phrase MF 50 times during his show! What are we doing with this kind of act h y p n o t i z i n g our kids with that kind of talk. It reminds us of former Commissioner Arn Menconi’s use of that kind of language to “mentor” kids with. Avon’s new chief is clearly a top-notch professional! Chief Bob Ticer impressed Business Briefs from the git-go. Clearly, he was interested in solving real crime, not just the traffic kind we’ve come to get used to in Eagle County. Chief Ticer and his crew has had some notable busts, with the latest being the so-called Bridge Street Bandit, who allegedly committed large numbers of thefts, mostly in Vail, and made a donkey out of the Vail Some one told us that entertainment headliner Snoop Dog must have used the phrase MF 50 times during his show! What are we doing with this kind of act hypnotizing our kids with that kind of talk. Police Chief. Ticer and his crew did old-fashioned police work to bring the bandit to justice, and noticeably, those types of crimes aren’t being reported anymore. Ticer told Business Briefs that his job was to follow the policy that the Avon Town Council wants done. He indicated that if he had more people, he could have actually made more arrests! G r e a t . That’s what we need - MORE ARRESTS! What kind of policy is this? Ticer said that his job is to provide the council with the data. The council’s job is to make policy. “Whatever is made, I’ll work diligently to be prepared,” he stated. Not criticizing Avon Chief, nor Avon council Business Briefs knows that taking a position to do something different with SnowBall will not be popular with all. But, living life should not just be a popularity contest by telling people what they want to hear. That war kills innocent people also. We get that. But, staging the kind of events that invite the wrong kind of people here is ludicrous. It has been said that if we hang out with the wrong kind of people, we will become like those people. They will change us. We will not change them! The Avon Council should work with the promoters to provide a better SnowBall for next year. And, with proper thinking, we can do this constitutionally! We’ve Moved!
