Senior Awards Fitch Receives Lou Rotunda Award Joe Fitch was awarded the prestigious Lou Rotunda Award. The award has been given annually since 1960 to an outstanding male athlete. The award takes into account a student’s academic, athletic, and extracurricular activities. Joe Fitch Svat Receives Gilgenbach Award Katie Svat was the 33rd recipient of the Outstanding Female Athlete Award donated by Ron and Janet Gilgenbach. The award is the female counterpart to the Lou Rotunda Award and is given annually to a senior who excels athletically and academically and participates in extracurricular activities apart from athletics and exhibits school spirit and citizenship. Katie Svat Mitchell Robinson Robinson Awarded a Full Scholarship The Western Golf Association’s Evans Scholars Foundation awarded Mitchell Robinson the Chick Evans Caddie Scholarship to Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. This scholarship covers full tuition and housing for four years. The scholarship was awarded based on outstanding qualifications as a scholar and caddie. Mitchell has been caddying at the Elyria Country Club for five years. He plans to study business at Miami University. Bir Awarded OHSAA Scholarship Andrew Bir was awarded a scholarship from the OHSAA’s Northeast District Board. Andrew is only the 2nd EC student to have received this honor. The Scholarship was awarded at a banquet held on Tuesday, June 24, 2008. Andrew Bir Kolopus and Charnes Scholarship Winners Two of Elyria Catholic’s Endowed Scholarships are granted to graduating seniors to be used for college. This year’s recipient of the James Kolopus Scholarship was awarded to Nick Levis and the Al Charnes Scholarship was awarded to Brian Crofoot.
