L05 COMMON FREQUENCIES
L05.01 NAVY FLEET WARNING/TACTICAL FREQUENCY (6KA3E)
277.8 MHz
This frequency is guarded continuously by all U. S. Navy ships (except
submarines) when underway singly and by at least one ship of a group.
Coast Guard cutters may use this frequency to communicate with Navy
ships when required. The frequency may be particularly useful for
navigational purposes during periods of reduced visibility when entering
or leaving port if Navy ships are in the vicinity. The frequency is
also used by the Navy for local ship-shore harbor communications on a
secondary basis to intership use.
L06 VHF-FM MARITIME MOBILE FREQUENCIES
L06.01 CG SHIPS - NON-GOVERNMENT SHIP STATIONS (16KF3E)
Coast Guard ships may use these frequencies for communications with
non-Coast Guard ships in emergencies or during convoy escort exercises.
When beyond VHF-FM interference range of the territorial waters of the
US&P, these frequencies may be used for general intership short range
communications on a non-intreference basis to non-government ship
stations. (Refer to Chapter 2 Para. H.)
156.375 MHz (Ch. 67)
156.400 MHz (Ch. 08)
156.625 MHz (Ch. 72)
156.850 MHz (Ch. 17)
156.875 MHz (Ch. 77)
157.425 MHz (Ch. 88)
L06.02 CG SHORE STATIONS - GOVT AND NON-GOVT NAVIGATIONAL CHANNEL
(16KF3E)
156.65 MHz (Ch. 13)
This non-government frequency has been designated by the FCC as a
vessel bridge-to-bridge navigational communications channel only. Use
of this frequency by CG Shore Stations requires specific authority by
the Commandant. Conditions of use are as follows:
1. Must be on an NIB to intership (bridge-bridge)
communications. (see circuit L02.02.)
2. Transmissions shall be short and restricted to communications
that concern navigational information only. Communications
concerning weather forecasts, docking and/or tug services, if
required, shall normally be conducted on a Port Operations
channel.
3. This frequency shall not be used as a calling channel nor a
substitute for the 156.8 MHz guard.
4. Transmitter power 1 watt, not to exceed 10 watts) shall be used
to minimize potential interference to intership use
(bridge-to-bridge).
