Wheel: Removal - Refitting<br />

The removal - refitting procedure is the same for alloy<br />

and steel wheels.<br />

REMOVAL<br />

I - REMOVAL PREPARATION OPERATION<br />

a Position the vehicle on a two-post lift (see Vehicle:<br />

Towing and lifting) (02A, Lifting equipment).<br />

a Release the parking brake.<br />

a Remove the trim.<br />

a Position the wheel so that the valve is at the top.<br />

a Mark the position of the wheel on the hub.<br />

Note:<br />

This mark is necessary for:<br />

- marking the initial position of the wheel rim on<br />

the hub,<br />

- perform the balancing operation.<br />

a Strike around the edge of the tyre walls (1) several<br />

times using a mallet on the inner and outer surfaces<br />

of the wheel to detach the wheel.<br />

a Remove:<br />

- the wheel bolts,<br />

- the wheel.<br />

II - OPERATION FOR REMOVAL OF PART<br />

CONCERNED<br />

a Loosen the wheel bolts with the wheel on the<br />

ground.<br />

Note:<br />

Use sockets with protective sheaths in order to<br />

avoid scratching the alloy wheel rims.<br />

a Raise the lift.<br />

a Remove:<br />

- the wheel bolts,<br />

- the wheel.<br />

If the wheel cannot be removed after the bolt has<br />

been undone:<br />

a Position all the wheel bolts.<br />

a Tighten the wheel bolts to bring all the bolt heads<br />

into contact with the wheel.<br />

a Undo the wheel bolts by one turn.<br />
