Complete rear axle: Removal - Refitting

a Lower the lift.
a Position the bearing locators opposite the centring
holes.
a Refit the mountings, starting with the left-hand bearing.
a Insert the brake pipes into their housing.
a Remove the strap.
a Raise the lift.

a Check that the parking brake cable stops are properly
inserted in their housing.
a Refit:
- the supports on the springs,
- the springs in their housing.
a Mount the bump stops on the axle assembly, with
the marking towards the rear and in the longitudinal
axis of the vehicle.
a Remove the (Mot. 1390).
a Torque tighten:
- the bearing mounting bolts (6.2 daNm),
- the brake hose bolts (1.4 daNm).
a Reconnect the ABS system connectors.
J84, and AUTOMATIC PARKING BRAKE
a Reconnect the parking brake control unit wiring.
a Refit the parking brake control unit bracket mounting
bolts.
a Refit the parking brake cables.
1 - Left side
a Fit the component jack with a shim, under the
spring cup.
a Compress the rear axle.
a Refit the shock absorber lower mounting.
WARNING
The shock absorber mountings are only to be
tightened with the vehicle wheels on the ground.
