- the shock absorber.
REFITTING
a Refit:
- the shock absorber,
- the shock absorber lower mounting.
During removal, note the colours of the shock absorbers
and springs to be sure that the parts for refitting
are compliant.
WARNING
- Never use the rear axle as support for a lifting system.
- When replacing a shock absorber, the shock
absorber on the opposite side must be replaced.
REMOVAL
a Position the vehicle on a two-post lift (see Vehicle:
Towing and lifting) (MR 370, 02A, Lifting equipment).
a Lift up the carpet in the boot.

WARNING
Make sure that the shock absorber lower mounting
is fitted the right way round.
a Pretighten the shock absorber lower mounting.
WARNING
The shock absorber mountings are only to be
tightened with the vehicle wheels on the ground.
a Cut the retaining wire.
a Position the shock absorber head in its housing.
a Lower the lift until the wheels touch the ground.
a Remove the shock absorber head upper mounting
bolt (1) .
a Raise the lift.
a Remove:
- the protective fairing cover clip,
- the shock absorber lower mounting nut,

a Align the shock absorber head with the drill hole in
the boot.
a Refit the shock absorber upper mounting bolt.
a Pretighten the shock absorber upper mounting bolt.
a Repeat the operation on the opposite side.
a Torque tighten:
- the shock absorber upper mounting bolts (6.2
daNm),
