REAR AXLE COMPONENTS<br />
Rear suspension spring: Removal - Refitting<br />

a Remove the left spring with its lower support.<br />

WARNING<br />
If the upper support is unclipped, replace it with a<br />
new one.<br />
2 - Right-hand side<br />
a Repeat these operations on the right side of the vehicle.<br />
a Leave the rear axle suspended.<br />
REFITTING<br />
a Refit:<br />
- the two lower supports on the springs,<br />
- the springs in their housing.<br />
a Mount the bump stops on the axle assembly, with<br />
the marking towards the rear and in the longitudinal<br />
axis of the vehicle.<br />
WARNING<br />
Make sure that the shock absorber lower mounting<br />
is fitted the right way round.<br />
a Refit the shock absorber lower mounting.<br />
a Pre-tighten the shock absorber lower mounting.<br />
WARNING<br />
The shock absorber mountings are only to be<br />
tightened with the vehicle wheels on the ground.<br />
a Remove the component jack.<br />
2 - Right-hand side<br />
a Repeat these operations on the right side of the vehicle.<br />
a Refit the rear wheels (see 35A, Wheels and tyres,<br />
Wheel: Removal - Refitting, page 35A-1) .<br />
a Torque tighten the wheel mounting bolts (13<br />
daNm).<br />
1 - Left side<br />
a Bring the component jack into contact, using a<br />
shim, under the spring cup.<br />
a Insert the spring into its bump stops, starting at the<br />
top.<br />
a Compress the rear axle.<br />
a Lower the lift until the wheels touch the ground.<br />
a Torque tighten the shock absorber lower mounting<br />
bolts (10.5 daNm).<br />
a Raise the lift again.<br />
a Refit the rear axle aerodynamic fairing, replacing<br />
any damaged plastic clips.<br />
