During removal, note the colours of the shock absorbers
and springs to be sure that the parts for refitting
are compliant.
WARNING
Never use the rear axle as support for a lifting system.
REMOVAL
a Position the vehicle on a two-post lift (see Vehicle:
Towing and lifting) (MR 370, 02A, Lifting equipment).
a Remove:
- the rear wheels (see 35A, Wheels and tyres,
Wheel: Removal - Refitting, page 35A-1) ,
- the clips from the rear axle protective fairing using
unclipping pliers,
- the rear axle protective cowling.

a Fit the component jack, with a shim, under the left
spring cup.
a Mark the position where the left spring is fitted.
a Remove the left-hand shock absorber lower
mounting (1) using a long socket.
a Release the left shock absorber lower mounting.
a Remove the component jack.
