During removal, note the colours of the shock absorbers<br />

and springs to be sure that the parts for refitting<br />

are compliant.<br />

WARNING<br />

Never use the rear axle as support for a lifting system.<br />

REMOVAL<br />

a Position the vehicle on a two-post lift (see Vehicle:<br />

Towing and lifting) (MR 370, 02A, Lifting equipment).<br />

a Remove:<br />

- the rear wheels (see 35A, Wheels and tyres,<br />

Wheel: Removal - Refitting, page 35A-1) ,<br />

- the clips from the rear axle protective fairing using<br />

unclipping pliers,<br />

- the rear axle protective cowling.<br />

a Fit the component jack, with a shim, under the left<br />

spring cup.<br />

a Mark the position where the left spring is fitted.<br />

a Remove the left-hand shock absorber lower<br />

mounting (1) using a long socket.<br />

a Release the left shock absorber lower mounting.<br />

a Remove the component jack.<br />
