REAR AXLE COMPONENTS Rear brake calliper mounting: Removal - Refitting 33A Essential special tooling Fre. 1190-01 Brake calliper piston return tool. Tightening torquesm calliper mounting bolts guide pin bolts 105 Nm 36 Nm REMOVAL a Position the vehicle on a two-post lift. a Release the parking brake (see Parking brake) . a Refit the rear wheel (see 35A, Wheels and tyres, Wheel: Removal - Refitting, page 35A-1) . a Detach the parking brake cable. a Note the parking brake cable routing for refitting. a Remove: - the guide pin bolts, - the calliper. a Suspend the calliper. a Remove: - the brake pads, - the calliper mounting bolts, - the calliper mounting. a Check the condition of the braking components (replace the faulty parts), (see 30A, General information, Brake: Specifications, page 30A-6) . a Clean the calliper and calliper mounting using the cleaning station. REFITTING a Refit: - the calliper mounting, - the calliper mounting bolts. Note: 117348 Coat the calliper mounting and guide pin bolts with HIGH RESISTANCE THREAD LOCK product before fitting them. a Torque tighten the calliper mounting bolts (105 Nm). 33A-5
REAR AXLE COMPONENTS Rear brake calliper mounting: Removal - Refitting 33A a Push the calliper piston back using the (Fre. 1190- 01) until it reaches the end of its bore. a Refit: - the brake pads, - the calliper, - the guide pin bolts. a Torque tighten the guide pin bolts (36 Nm). a Refit the parking brake cables. 18931 101301 a Check that the parking brake cable stop is properly engaged in its housing. a Apply the parking brake control several times to activate the locking and unlocking function and to activate the calliper automatic play compensation. a Refit the wheel (see 35A, Wheels and tyres, Wheel: Removal - Refitting, page 35A-1) . 33A-6
