Essential equipment<br />

a Remove:<br />

- the ball joint housing,<br />

- the lock nut,<br />

- the gaiter retaining clips,<br />

- the gaiter.<br />

WARNING<br />

Be careful not to damage the gaiters: risk of irreversible<br />

damage.<br />

REMOVAL<br />

a Position the vehicle on a two-post lift.<br />

a Unlock the steering column lock using the diagnostic<br />

tool.<br />

a Set up the (Dir. 1306-04) (1) on the steering rack, at<br />

the pinion end.<br />

a Unlock the axial ball joint using tool (Dir. 1305-01)<br />

(2) .<br />

Note:<br />

During this operation, the steering rack must be<br />

in place on the vehicle.<br />

a Disconnect the battery, starting with the negative<br />

terminal.<br />

a Extract the track rod end using the (Tav. 476).<br />

a Loosen the wheel alignment adjusting lock nut.<br />

a Remember the number of thread turns made in order<br />

to preset the wheel alignment when refitting.<br />
