REMOVAL<br />
I - REMOVAL PREPARATION OPERATION<br />
a Position the vehicle on a two-post lift (see Vehicle:<br />
Towing and lifting) .<br />
a Remove the front wheel (see 35A, Wheels and tyres,<br />
Wheel: Removal - Refitting, page 35A-1) .<br />
a Remove the track rod (see 36A, Steering assembly,<br />
Track rod: Removal - Refitting, page 36A-3) .<br />
a Remove the steering rack gaiter (see 36A, Steering<br />
assembly, Steering rack gaiter: Removal - Refitting,<br />
page 36A-15) .<br />
a Unlock the steering column.<br />
Note:<br />
a Set up the (Dir. 1306-04) (1) on the steering rack, at<br />
the pinion end.<br />
a Unlock the axial ball joint using tool (Dir. 1305-01)<br />
(2) .<br />
a Remove the axial ball joint.<br />
REFITTING<br />

joint washer (13,04,02,04)<br />
During this operation, the steering rack must be<br />
in place on the vehicle.<br />
