Instant Games VALIDATING TICKETS The Wisconsin Lottery has cross-validation. Cross-validation allows for players to cash winning tickets at any Lottery retail location regardless of where the tickets were purchased. Any retailer may cash and receive credit for prizes up to $599.00. If your location has a cashing policy or limit, please post the policy in a prominent location. Retailers receive 6.25% commission for the sales of Instant Scratch and Pull-tab tickets and 5.5% commission for sales of Lotto tickets. How to Cash Tickets Your Lottery Terminal will take the guesswork out of whether a ticket is a winner. You can cash tickets from ANY Retailer up to $599. Always scan instant scratch tickets and get the Cash Authorization Receipt before paying out any prize. You must scan on your terminal any winning ticket in order to receive credit for the prize paid out. To cash (validate) an instant scratch ticket: • Touch INSTANT CASH • Scan the ticket validation barcode on back of ticket. • On the front of the ticket, enter the three boxed digits or scan the boxed validation bar code. • To validate more than one ticket, touch NEXT and continue scanning barcodes and entering the three boxed digits (or scanning validation barcodes) of the additional tickets. • Touch EXIT to complete • A Cash Authorization Receipt will print showing the total amount to pay. • Return to the player any non winning ticket along with the validation receipt showing that the ticket is a non winner. • For a winning ticket you should show the winner the Cash Authorization Receipt but you will need to retain the cash authorization receipt for your accounting purposes. • After showing the player the Cash Authorization Receipt tear the tickets in half through the validation barcode and attach Cash Authorization Receipt to one half of the ticket. Dispose of the other half. Retain ticket half with cash authorization for one week. After one week, dispose or shred the second half of the ticket with the Cash Authorization Receipt. • Do not attempt to validate a ticket that appears to have been altered. 4/13/2015 7
