1930
On April 26, 2005, Mrs. Edward A. Lord and
Mrs. Raymond J. Ruckel met for the first time
at their 75th and 50th alumnae reunion from St.
Catharine Academy, Pelham Parkway, Bronx. Both
are widows of 1920 Regis classmates, and had
many fond memories of the “boys” from Regis.
Mrs. Lord’s grandson, Eamon Daul, graduated
Regis in 1998 and served as an alumni mentor.
Mrs. Louis Jablonski and Mrs. Ruckel had a good
time touring the Golden Isles of Georgia (St. Simon
and Jekyll) and Savannah for a week in April. They
all wish the class of ’30 peace and good health.
Lou Piro is now living in an adult home in lower
Westchester. Shortly after entering he was
welcomed at an afternoon reception attended
by, among others, his daughter, his brother
John ‘40, Ken McLaughlin and the daughter of
Frank Walters. Most of us will remember Frank’s
untimely death in an auto accident while still a
young man. His daughter shared several fond
recollections of her father. Kevin Tubridy, Lou
and Ken recently lunched together in Yonkers
and in June the same threesome will join Fr.
Tom Golden for lunch somewhere close to his
residence in Maryknoll, NY. Robert J. Flynn and
his wife have been “Snowbirds” for 18 years and
6 months in Huntington L.I. and 6 in Sarasota FL.
They love swimming in the gulf and playing poor
golf. Jim Carney, SJ and Don Gross (both ‘43)
went to Maryknoll Seminary in late May to visit
their classmate Ed Malone, M.M. While waiting
for Ed to arrive, Tom Golden, M.M. showed up
on the scene. Tom, glowing as usual, have a
resounding report of the twelve ‘39ers who had a
luncheon meeting in the Hyatt Hotel next to Grand
Central. He encourages other seniors to go and do
likewise.
1939
Don Gross was kind enough to drive Jim Carney,
SJ up to the beautiful Maryknoll seminary to pay a
visit to our newly returned missionary, Ed Malone,
M.M. The 1943 trio had a most enjoyable lunch
together. Like the other two Ed has slowed down a
bit but is otherwise in fine fettle. On a sadder note
please pray for John Hanigan who had to enter a
nursing home in late May.
