half of persons interviewed consider the environment as a disabling factor. One third<br />

had difficulties with access when going for job interview. Lack of employment<br />

prevented them to build their own families. Most of unemployed PWDs (68,5%) live<br />

with parents and other members of household.<br />

Most of unemployed PWDs (52.4%) live in households with incomes lower than<br />

average income in Serbia. More than a half unemployed PWDs perceive their living<br />

standard as bad. It is estimated that one fifth of unemployed OWDs live under the<br />

poverty line and that is more than the percentage of poor people in general<br />

population. Working career of unemployed PWDs is mainly marked as „chronic<br />

unemployment“ and every second unemployed PWD wait for a job longer than ten<br />

years.<br />

Persons with disability mostly worked on jobs under their education level and gained<br />

working experience by having all sorts of jobs – in production process, services,<br />

administration and communication. Instability of working carrier is also characteristic<br />

for PWDs. Half of persons interviewed have some working experience but every<br />

fourth has experience of „job lose“.<br />

Unemployed PWDs are active in job seeking. Between two surveys 41,7% of persons<br />

interviewed were actively looking for a job. Positive outcome have only 13,7%. More<br />

than one third have negative experience in job seeking. According to questionnaire<br />

more than two third of unemployed PWDs think that their local opportunities for a job<br />

are bad. Even higher percentage, 71,2%, stressed that job chances for women with<br />

disability are much worse. One fourth of unemployed PWDs consider job<br />

opportunities are better now than in previous years.<br />

Persons with disability are well informed about the Law of professional rehabilitation<br />

and employment of PWDs. Also they are much more familiar with measures and<br />

activities on national level than those on local level. More than half persons<br />

interviewed have information on employment process. One fourth of interviewed<br />

PWDs expect support from National Employment Bureau, less than one fourth rely on<br />

organizations of PWDs and also on social networks, friends, colleagues and<br />

acquaintances.<br />

Bad situation on labor market and chances for employment resulted in great<br />

insecurity of PWDs and their employment perspective. Almost three fourth of<br />

interviewed PWDs feel insecure. Every third unemployed person has some feelings of<br />

security.<br />

Percentage of persons with disability employed in questioned organizations is<br />

extremely low - 1,95%. If we examine only public enterprises and institution<br />

employment rate is very bad, among 100 workers employed there are no employed<br />

person with disability. Two third of employers had experience of employing PWDs,<br />
