EDITORIAL BY: LUISA BOCCHIETTO
After a ten year journey A+D+M has
changed its skin and become PLATFORM;
an international journal that intends to
go even further. The editorial commitment starts from the
success achieved in creating relationships between designers
and businesses to establish an operating platform that
integrates magazine, web and events. A new beginning for
me after years dedicated to ADI, with the same enthusiasm
for design, to continue to cultivate relationships with
extraordinary people in a different, more personal way. As
always: a new design project. PLATFORM is an open offer to
meet; behind the magazine there are people, opportunities
to be seized and the pleasure of working together. The
name coincides with the project and the image is that
of an island-land, anchored to a liquid world, landing
or launch pad, where every new venture is possible.
The digital timescale is fast but by opening the
magazine on several fronts, we can enjoy the luxury
of going a little slower, of enjoying the journey.
We decided to take as travelling companions a cross section
of opinions from experts in different fields to ours, and as
reference points for navigation, we decided to use Calvino’s
“American Lessons: Six Memos for the Next Millennium”.
This is a starting point, a nucleus around which
to create a potential story; as in architecture, the
constraint around which to develop the design.
This first issue is dedicated to lightness.
The lightness that manages to be just that, despite the
heaviness of the world. The lightness of poetry and of all
art with which to overcome the horror of death, the fear
of life, the pain of loss. Lightness; that of the bird that
flies, not the feather that falls. The lightness of allowing
yourself to be stupid, to discover new things. Lightness
as faith in a better world. Lightness as sincerity.
Lightness as beauty; that of a rose.
Dopo dieci anni di percorso A+D+M cambia pelle e nasce
PLATFORM; una rivista internazionale che intende andare
più lontano. L’impegno editoriale parte dal successo
ottenuto nel creare rapporti tra progettisti e imprese
per mettere a sistema una piattaforma operativa che
integri rivista, web, eventi. Un nuovo inizio anche per
me dopo anni dedicati ad ADI, con lo stesso entusiasmo
per il design, per continuare a coltivare dei rapporti
con personaggi straordinari, in modo diverso, più
personale. Come sempre: un nuovo progetto di design.
PLATFORM è un’offerta di incontro; dietro alla
rivista ci sono persone, opportunità da cogliere e il
piacere di lavorare insieme. Il nome coincide con il
progetto e l’immagine è quella di una terra-isola,
ancorata ad un mondo liquido, approdo o base di
lancio, dove ogni nuova perlustrazione è possibile.
Il tempo del digitale è veloce; giocando su più fronti,
sulla rivista possiamo concederci il lusso di andare
più piano, per apprezzare il viaggio. Abbiamo deciso
di farci accompagnare dall’opinione trasversale di
esperti di altri settori e come punti di riferimento per la
navigazione scelto di utilizzare le sei “Lezioni americane”
di Italo Calvino. Si tratta di un pretesto, un nucleo
intorno al quale ancorare un possibile racconto; come
accade in architettura, il vincolo sul quale costruire.
Questo primo numero è dedicato alla leggerezza.
La leggerezza che riesce ad essere tale, nonostante la
pesantezza del mondo. La leggerezza di ogni arte per
vincere l’orrore della morte, la paura della vita, il dolore
della perdita. La leggerezza; quella dell’uccello che vola,
non della piuma che cade. La leggerezza di permetterci
di essere stupidi, per scoprire nuove cose. La leggerezza
come sincerità e fiducia in un mondo migliore.
La leggerezza come bellezza; quella di una rosa.
