The Battersea Power Station redevelopment project is one of the most significant in Europe and covers an area of 17 hectares that will house 4,000 apartments, over 250 retail spaces and well over 7 hectares of park. The new district will be home to 25,000 residents and over 40 million visitors a year, thus becoming a new focal centre both for tourists and Londoners themselves. WORK IN PROGRESS – The first phase of the Battersea Power Station will open in 2016, and the entire project will be completed in 2025. In the meantime, the shareholders in the Battersea Power Station and Battersea Power Station Development Company (“BPSDC”) have crossed the Channel to export this new district to the new international capitals of culture, such as Milan, Paris and New York but also Dubai, Kuala Lumpur and many others. THE POWER STATION – Created by Sir Giles Gilbert Scott, responsible for the House of Commons at Westminster, the original building now housing the Tate Modern and the iconic red London telephone boxes, the Power Station now sits abandoned on the South bank of the Thames. The redevelopment project includes 250 residential units, 4 penthouses, an auditorium, a cinema and even a boutique hotel as well as six floors of offices for 5,000 people. At the heart of the building three floors of shops alternate between luxury brands, restaurants and independent designers. BATTERSEA
