Giving a
Special Gift
Our Shining Stars
From Larry Lachter
On Friday, May 10th, I had a lovely experience while driving the tram.
I’ve been driving it for more than four years and have made new friends,
reconnected with old ones and had many amazing experiences and
strange coincidences ... I even met the man who almost married my
wife-to-be 60 years ago. But, this one beats them all. Cheryl Carpenter
called me from the rotunda to come and pick up a “special” passenger
who needed a ride to the maternity unit. As I pulled up to the main
lobby, Cheryl came out, guiding the little lady. They explained that she
needed to get to the maternity unit to meet her new and 20th greatgrandchild.
Wow! This brought back memories of taking one young
and very pregnant lady to maternity who was 10 days “late.” To my
relief, she was just making an appointment to have a cesarean section
done the next day. I had visions of delivering a baby in the tram.
From a SurgiCenter Family Member
Is someone you know having a
special birthday or anniversary and
you don’t know what to give them?
Why not honor them by making a
contribution in their name to the
Debbie-Rand Memorial Service
League. Their name will appear in
the newsletter and you will receive
an in-kind donation for the amount
donated. In turn, if your donation
is $20 or more, the Boca Raton
Regional Hospital Foundation
will give you credit toward your
benefactor status.
You may also wish to remember
a loved one or friend that may
be deceased. What better way to
memorialize them.
Remember, for the person who
has everything, a gift to the Debbie-
Rand Memorial Service League
is priceless!
Why single out just one? Across the board, D-RMSL volunteers help
make the Hospital as wonderful and caring as it is. If one must be in
the hospital, this is the one to visit. The many volunteers are just as
professional as the seasoned staff. Thank you.
Do you know of or have you witnessed a volunteer going above and
beyond to help a patient? Or maybe someone who is simply deserving
of recognition for displaying an exceptional level of volunteerism? If
so, let us know and we will feature them in an upcoming issue.
