GoPink Challenge raises funds for
breast cancer awareness,
detection, diagnosis
The Go Pink Challenge is a community-based effort to
raise awareness and philanthropic support for the Institute for
Women’s Health & Wellness/Center for Breast Care, which
performs more than 90,000 procedures annually to detect
breast cancer.
Funds raised through the Challenge were used recently
to purchase a new, digital, handicapped accessible
mammography van, named the “Kathryn Krickstein Pressel
MammoVan,” in honor of LPGA star Morgan Pressel’s mother,
who died of breast cancer in 2003. Pressel, along with
members of the St. Andrews Country Club in Boca Raton, were
instrumental in raising the funds to finance the purchase of
the van, which visits communities, organizations, schools, and
other sites throughout South Florida.

In addition, individuals, businesses and community groups
have participated in the Challenge by hosting fundraising and
awareness-raising events, from cupcake sales and card parties
to trunk shows and spin-a-thons.
Proceeds from Challenge events have also funded a new
3-D Ultrasound Unit and a Breast PEM (Positron Emission
Mammography) Scanner.
